After waking up early and getting the kids (and the dog) in the car Saturday morning to drive over to Virginia, Neal and I just chuckled. We both feel like we’ve been going 100mph these past two months and in all honesty, we have. I know we’re doing the best we can, but as I shared last week, we just haven’t reached a place where our new routine is second nature. We’re still making a lot of adjustments and are figuring out what works and what doesn’t work. That process is never fun, but I know we’ll get to a place where we’ve found a nice balance between making our family a priority, working full time, and managing all the in-betweens. For now, we’re just sticking to our schedule and enjoying the little pockets of fun in-between the craziness.
Last fall Neal and Magnolia started a Saturday morning donut tradition. They sneak out while I’m feeding Kinnick and pick up a few donuts from our local bakery. When we’re on the road, we like to find a new to us bakery. Saturday led us to Texas Bakery in Centreville, Virginia. The donuts were ok, but I think I just really like the bakery by our house.
After running to Costco and picking up Theodore from his hair appointment, we headed home, ate lunch, and put the kids down for their naps.
We knew snow was in the forecast, so as soon as the flakes started to fall I headed out for a long walk with Theodore. I really needed that time to clear my head. It has been a stressful few weeks and I needed that time to decompress.
We relaxed at home Saturday night and I tackled a few work projects after the kids went to bed. The snow was just beautiful and I’m glad we got a little snow in between these mini “heat waves”.
Sunday morning we cleaned the house and got ready for Neal’s parents to arrive. I snuck out of the house mid morning to go to the gym, which was really good. I have lots to share about my workouts and weight loss, but for now I’ll just share that I’ve been shopping for a gym to join. I am using a free 7 day trial this week at once gym and then may try out one other before committing.
I haven’t been feeling too hot physically lately and I’m trying to get back into a groove that I’m happy with. Joining a gym where I can train is really important to me and working out at work just isn’t going to work. I think joining a gym close to home will be the key for me.
All in all, it was a good weekend. I took the day off today, but ended up working from home quite a bit. It was nice spending the time with my kids, in-laws, and husband! We even go out and did a little shopping, which was nice!
This week I’m traveling for work. It’s always hard being away from my kids but I’m looking forward to the time with the athletes I work with. It’s always great seeing them in their element and having that time away from my desk.
