Thoughts and Feelings – My 32nd week of pregnancy, which actually ended on Thursday, was a real turning point this pregnancy. I was hopeful it was just a tough week physically, but week 33 hasn’t started off much different. It’s funny looking back on my 32nd week of my first pregnancy, because I felt similar in some ways. I don’t know if the 32nd week is just a mental turning point, but this week I struggled with self image, felt really uncomfortable, and had mixed emotions about hitting the 8 month mark and still having 8 weeks left.
This past week of pregnancy started off with a wonderful Mother’s Day Weekend! I really enjoyed spending one-on-one time with Magnolia on Saturday and then enjoying time as a family on Sunday. I felt really good that weekend, but the real turning point was after going on the 3.22 mile walk as a family. That night I was quite sore, which was odd because we had done that 5K loop many times this pregnancy.
Monday morning I woke up incredibly sore, mainly in my groin and hips. Still, I went to OrangeTheory, as I figured walking, stretching, and lifting a few weights would help… it didn’t. I got a great workout in, but man, I was so sore! In all honesty, I really haven’t been overdoing it. I’m modified almost all aspects of my workouts, but this week proved that my body is telling me something and I need to slow down.
I think this reality made me feel somewhat blah about my own body image. To still have 8 weeks to go, knowing that I’ll gain more weight these last 8 weeks, is just tough. Add in feeling super sore and uncomfortable… Blah! Again, my hope was that I over did it last Sunday, but I think I just have to lighten things up and need to relax these last 8 weeks.
The Bump –
Movement – Baby boy is still really active. He is head down (yay!), which explains all of the kicking in my ribs.
Symptoms – My hips and groin have been really sore, but otherwise, no other symptoms.
Third Trimester To Do List Progress – This week we narrowed our name choices down to two names! We like both of them for different reasons, so we may just wait and see what the baby’s personality is like. One name is a bit more rambunctious and the other is what I would consider a sweet name. I’m just happy we’ve narrowed our list down to 2!
As I didn’t work on the house last weekend, I really didn’t tackle anything else on my list. Neal and I did talk about transitioning Magnolia to her big girl room and I just don’t think we’re going to do it yet. She’s not climbing out of her crib and technically we won’t need the crib until he’s 4-5 months old. I already plan to keep him bedside until he hits that age.
Things left to accomplish this month…
–Choose baby’s name!!
-Decorate big girl room (hang curtains, hang pictures)
-Transition Magnolia to her new room!!
-Clean our loft (it has become a storage area and is a mess)
-Decorate our master bedroom (consider buying a bed frame for our new(er) king size bed)
-Finalize maternity leave plan
-Create a plan for return to office after short term disability leave (6 weeks)
Appointments – On Thursday I had an ultrasound and an OBGYN appointment. Both appointments were great! Baby boy is head down and looks really good. He’s roughly 4 pounds 11 oz at this point, so they’re going to bring me back at 38 weeks for another anatomy scan. I wouldn’t mind one bit if he came a week or two early! My OB appointment was uneventful. Weight, blood pressure, baby’s heartbeat, and everything else looked awesome. Next appointment is in 2 weeks at week 34.
Diet – Thinking back, I think my diet was pretty good. I think I’m at a point where I really need to plan ahead. When you’re hungry and don’t have any healthy options ready, that’s when you find yourself in a pickle. For the most past, I packed my lunches during the work week, brought healthy snacks, and ate dinner at home. I do find myself having zero desire to cook once home, so I want to do some pre-planning for the week ahead. I did eat out a few times this week. I ate at Cava with a co-worker on Monday, grabbed a breakfast sandwich at Panera in between appointments on Thursday, and had a salad at Chop’t on Friday.
Food Cravings – I don’t know if I’m craving any one thing. Just hungry.
Workouts –
Thursday – Rest day but hit step goal
Friday – OrangeTheory
Saturday – Short family walk (1.38 miles)
Sunday – 3.22 mile walk
Monday – OrangeTheory
Tuesday – Rest day but hit step goal
Wednesday – Rest day but hit step goal
Sleep – Ugh, this might be another reason why I’m feeling so crappy. I just haven’t not been sleeping well in our bed. No matter the pillow configuration. I slept on the couch most nights, but I might try out the guest bed as it’s softer this next week. Still, I’ve been getting plenty of sleep, I just toss and turn.
