The Bump – It’s fun looking at my 16 week vs 24 week photos. I’ve been growing pretty steady this pregnancy but I have definitely popped these past two weeks. I’m really happy and grateful to be 24 weeks pregnant.
Gender – We’re having a boy!
Movement – The baby is moving a lot now. He’s very active at night, but I feel him kicking throughout the day. Just the other day I saw my stomach move for the first time, so I’m hoping we have a little athlete in there. It’s no secret that I want to be a soccer/basketball/football mom – for any of our kids!
Symptoms – It’s funny, I don’t know if I’m just so busy that I’m not noticing my symptoms or if this has just been an easy pregnancy so far. Knock on wood, I haven’t had much heartburn or indigestion so far this pregnancy and overall I’m feeling good physically. When I push myself too far in a workout my hips do ache the next day, but even that goes away. I’m hopeful this pregnancy will continue to go smoothly.
Maternity Clothes – I really don’t fit in any of my work pants at this point, so I’m hoping the warmer weather stays, that way I can live in dresses until the baby arrives. I have been looking for a pair of maternity dress pants, but I’d much rather buy a few new tops to go with my maternity skirts and some new sandals for my last few months. I do have a few pairs of maternity linen pants from my first pregnancy that I can wear as it gets warmer. In April I have 4 formal events to attend at work, but I feel good about the dresses I bought last weekend at Lane Bryant.
Doctors Appointments – I had my 24 week appointment on Thursday and it went well. My weight hasn’t been an issue up until this point in pregnancy, but my doctor did encourage me to watch it. She’d like me to maintain my weight between now and my next appointment at 28 weeks, so I’m going to work on that. I haven’t gone haywire by any means, but I know I can clean up my diet as I move into this second half of pregnancy. Pregnancy aside, I just hasn’t been as disciplined and I know I can get back to a good place with planning.
Food Cravings – I am still craving tea and anything pickled, especially picked banana peppers. I have eggs and fruit for breakfast most mornings, leftovers for lunch during the work week, and shoot for a balanced dinner most nights (protein, veggies, and a complex carb). My downfall this pregnancy has been the little snacks and sweets here and there. For whatever reason, there has just been lots of sweets around the office post holidays and I’ve struggled to stay away. I’m also a sucker for pizza, so if we’re having a hectic week, I’m a-ok making or buying pizza.
Workouts – I really didn’t workout much during my 24th week of pregnancy. After being off work for 10 days and transitioning back to the grind, I was exhausted. I did go to OrangeTheory on Friday, but cancelled my Monday workouts. We walked most evenings, but overall it was a relaxing week.
Friday – OrangeTheory
Saturday – Rest day
Sunday – Rest day
Monday – Shopping, walking, and cleaning the house
Tuesday – 3.5 mile walk with Neal, Theodore, and Magnolia
Wednesday – Short walk after work
Thursday – Rest day
Sleep – I started using the pregnancy pillow I bought at the beginning of this pregnancy. I’m still not a huge fan, but I needed something to support my back. I still have a tendency to sleep on my back, so the pillow helps with that.
Thoughts and Feelings – As I’ve shared, I’m feeling pretty good pregnancy wise. I do want to clean up my diet this weeks and reach my goal of maintaining my weight this next month. Otherwise, I’m feeling good physically! I will admit though that I started feeling anxious this week, realizing that my due date is just 3 1/2 months away once April arrives. Work is pretty hectic in April, so I know that month will fly by, and then we’ll just have May and June to prepare for baby. I hope to have Magnolia’s big girl room set up, the nursery put together, our master bedroom design and decorated, all of my work organized, and a good maternity leave plan in place by June. I hope the baby will stay put until mid July, but if he decides to arrive early, I’d like to have those 5 things in place.
Looking Forward To – Traveling to Texas in a few weeks (our big pre-baby trip)
