It was an absolutely breathtaking weekend here in the DC area!! If we aren’t going to get any snow days this winter, then I’m happy as a clam that we’re moving into spring a little early. I’m sure we’ll have some cold days before winter finally gives up, but it’s amazing to have 70 degree days in February!
Saturday morning we woke up early and drove towards Baltimore for a little adventure. Our first stop, breakfast at The Breakfast Shoppe. We first heard about this breakfast stop on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, but a few friends also recommended it to us as well. We arrived around 9AM on Saturday and the wait was only 15 minutes, which wasn’t bad!
Neal ordered the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, I ordered the Bacon and Gouda Scrambled Eggs, and we ordered a pancake with eggs for Magnolia.
Neal’s pancakes were yummy and my breakfast was just ok. It was good, but nothing spectacular. The potatoes and biscuit were pretty bland, but the eggs were good. Magnolia loved her breakfast!
After breakfast we drove up to Baltimore and spent a few hours at the Baltimore Aquarium. We bought season passes last summer and we’ve tried to go once a month. We’ve gone 5 times now and each time Magnolia falls in love with something new. If you’re local, I highly recommend pricing out the season passes. It was only roughly $40 more to bump up our one day passes for season passes, which was a steal given how many times we’ve gone!
After the aquarium we walked around the Inner Harbor for a bit and then headed back towards home. On our way back we stopped by the Clarksburg Outlets, which we love. Carter’s was having a huge sale, so I went ahead and bought a few things for baby boy and Magnolia.
Once home, we settled in and then went for a LONG walk around the lake. It was just too gorgeous outside. We ended up walking 3.24 miles, which was awesome.
We closed out our Saturday with a family dinner. I made Sautéed Pepper and Onion Tacos, which were delicious!
Sunday was equally as gorgeous, but poor Magnolia was a little under the weather. Sunday morning we went to church and then came home for lunch. Magnolia took a pretty long nap, so Neal and I opened all of the windows in the house and did a little cleaning and budgeting while she napped.
After her nap we went for a quick walk and then I ran to Whole Foods to pick up a few things. We are trying hard to use what’s in our house and to limit grocery shopping, so I just picked up a few things for the week ahead (yogurts, granola, eggs, bread, apples, and lots of tea).
I closed out the day hanging out with my cuddle bug. Magnolia and I watched lots of Curious George and Neal went to our Financial Peace University class by himself (we’re loving this class by the way!!). After Neal went to bed Neal and I watched 2 episodes of The People vs OJ Simpson and then I headed to bed.
It was a great weekend and I’m looking forward to the week ahead!
