It was a quiet and relaxing weekend for us here in Maryland! I haven’t been writing too much lately, but hope to write more starting this week. I’ve been pretty worn out, so most nights I get home, spend time with my family, and then head to bed. It’s been nice to just focus on my wellness and family and definitely look forward to writing more again!
The past few weeks have been great, between Thanksgiving and going to Texas, and I’m looking forward to celebrating Christmas and enjoying some time off work until the new year. Last Thursday Neal’s parents came into town to celebrate Neal’s birthday, so we’ve enjoyed time with them these past few days.
Friday morning I woke up early, headed to OrangeTheory, and then enjoyed a quite few hours before everyone woke up. It was nice enjoying a good workout and then having some time to decompress after the work week.
We spent most of the day Friday at home with Neal’s parents. We had a contractor come out to the house for a few things and also took our car in for new brake pads. Nothing glamorous, but it was nice to have a day to get a few tasks knocked off the to do list.
Friday afternoon we all took naps and then went out to do a little Christmas shopping. I love putting together gifts for friends and family. The crowds are definitely not enjoyable, but it’s so fun being able to make and buy things for others. I mean, how adorable are these Lane Bryant Christmas Pajamas and coffee mugs from Homegoods? After a little shopping, we came home and enjoyed homemade taco pizza for dinner and watched Christmas Vacation. It was a really great day!
Saturday morning I took my sister to the airport super early and then came home to celebrate Neal’s birthday! I made Neal his favorite breakfast and then we relaxed at home and watched football. After Magnolia’s nap we went out to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and let me tell y’all, Cheesecake Factory has a new Nutella Cheesecake and it is heaven!! Heaven! We had so much fun celebrating Neal and closed out his birthday at the Gaithersburg Winter Lights.
The Winter Lights are beautiful and if you’re in the DC area, I highly recommend driving out to Gaithersburg to see them. We’ve run through the lights a couple of times and this was our second time driving through. I will say, it was PACKED on Saturday night, so if you can go on a week day, I recommend it! A few years ago we went on a Thursday night and it was super quiet!
Yesterday, we relaxed most of the day! Magnolia has been really clingy these past few weeks, so I’ve enjoyed relaxing with her and cuddling. I started off the day with an OrangeTheory workout and then spent the rest of the day at home. We watched the Redskins game, ran to Costco to pick up a few essentials, ate dinner at home, and then watched more football. It was a really great day!
It’s finals week at work so it’s our last week of the semester with students on campus. I’m looking forward to cranking out a few things this week and then moving into our last week before Christmas. It’s hard to believe Christmas is in TWO WEEKS.
