Happy Halloween everyone!! I hope y’all enjoyed the last weekend of October and have fun plans today to celebrate Halloween!
Our weekend kicked off with a post-work play date (how cute are these two?) and a date night for Neal and me at home. This past summer, while Neal was in Chicago with the DC Divas, he picked up a frozen Giordano’s pizza and brought it home with him. We’ve had it in our deep freezer ever since and thought the World Series was the perfect occasion to enjoy the Chicago deep dish pizza. It was a fun date night and a yummy dinner!
Saturday morning we headed downtown to go to the zoo with our friend Becky.
Magnolia loved walking around the zoo. I think the adults were a little more into the animals than Magnolia was, but we still had an awesome time! The weather was perfect!
After getting home from the zoo, Magnolia and I took a long nap and then we headed back downtown to watch the AU women’s volleyball game. The win marked the head coach’s 700th win! He is now one of 24 coaches to win 700 games in their career! It was an honor to watch and I am so happy for the head coach, the coaching staff, and the athletes.
Sunday morning Magnolia and I woke up early and ran to Target to pick up a few things. My goal was to get our errands for the day done before the Redskins game started at 9:30AM. Once home, we turned on the Redskins game and made a delicious breakfast (bacon, spinach, and jalapeno scramble).
During the Redskins game, which lasted FOREVER, I prepared some staples for the week ahead. I baked sliced sweet potato, roasted a spaghetti squash, and made 2 cups of quinoa. I have my protein defrosting for the week ahead and my veggies are all ready to go, but I wanted to prep as much as I could yesterday for the week ahead.
I also made some funfetti cupcakes for today!
While Magnolia napped, I put together our new bedding!! I bought this beautiful duvet cover from Target online and it works perfectly with our blue dressers from Ikea. I love it!!
After Magnolia’s nap and a late lunch, we went for a really long walk around the lake. The trees are just amazing right now and it was so nice walking around the lake while the sun set. A storm rolled in just as we were finishing our walk, but I ended the walk with 11K steps!
Once home, I made everyone dinner (tortellini, sauteed spinach, and grilled chicken) and enjoyed some time with Magnolia before her bedtime.
After putting Magnolia to bed, I put the finishing touches on Magnolia’s Halloween costume. It was so easy to make and I can’t wait to see her in it tonight.
We did a lot this weekend, but we had a really wonderful time! I have a busy work week ahead of me and I’m eager to get things accomplished today before heading home. We have a Halloween party at daycare this evening, followed by trick or treating before bedtime! We can’t wait.
Here’s to a great week! I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!
