Satisfying My Sweet Tooth with Healthier Desserts

I’ve always been more of a savory person than a sweets person, but let me tell y’all, I definitely have a sweet tooth!  Nine out of ten times I’ll choose an omelet over pancakes for breakfast, but when it comes to dessert, boy do I love a good bowl of ice cream!

During my senior year of college I got into a habit of having ice cream almost every night after dinner and that habit has stayed with me all these years.  Neal and I love trying different ice creams and Neal definitely has a sweet tooth.  I’m pretty sure he’d choose sweets over anything savory at any meal.   Of course, there’s nothing wrong with having ice cream each night, but over the years I’ve found alternatives for satisfying my sweet tooth, especially now as I fit everything I eat into my daily Weight Watchers SmartPoints.

A few weeks ago, when my mom was in town, she purchased the Weight Watchers English Toffee Crunch Ice Cream Bars and boy were they good!  They were the perfect amount of sweet and fit really well into my daily SmartPoints at 4sp each.  When I went to the store and found the other Weight Watchers frozen treats, I started thinking of ways I could incorporate the treats into different desserts. Every treat I’ve tried so far has been delicious, but I’ve really enjoyed turning the treats into different desserts.

Satisfying My Sweet Tooth with Healthier Desserts
This weekend I purchased two of my favorite treats, the Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Bars and the Vanilla Fudge Swirl Ice Cream Cones, at Giant Food.  On both days I transformed the ice cream treats into a new dessert.

On Saturday I wanted something sweet (guess who stayed away from the Funnel Cake at the fair? yay!), but I didn’t have a lot of SmartPoints left for the day since we had brunch out and ate dinner at the fair.  I decided to add one of the Weight Watchers Vanilla Fudge Swirl Ice Cream Cones (4sp) to a bowl of strawberries, which are 0sp, and boy was it delicious!

I crushed up the cone in the package and then added it to the top of the sliced strawberries.

The dessert was delicious and really filling.  I loved it and so did Neal!!.

Weight Watchers Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Bars
Yesterday after my long run and lunch I made a delicious root beer float with the Weight Watchers Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Bar.

At just 2sp a bar, the Chocolate Fudge bar makes a great healthy dessert option. Adding it to a glass of diet root beer (0sp) just takes it over the top!

I added in the root beer slowly and then stirred the Chocolate Fudge bar in, adding in more root beer as I ate the ice cream and drank the soda.  It was so yummy!

Neal requested another Vanilla Fudge Swirl Ice Cream Cone and strawberry dessert yesterday afternoon, which I was happy to make for him!  Both desserts are delicious and help my goal of satisfying my sweet tooth with healthier desserts.

Stop by your local Giant Food between 9/1/16 – 9/28/16 and when you buy any (5) FIVE participating Weight Watchers products (excluding Heinz SmartOnes & Meeting Room Products) you’ll Save $3.00 instantly while supplies last! Along with the ice cream bars, I bought two bags of the Weight Watchers candies, which also make a perfect end of day treat!
