Last week Neal and I were extremely lucky to have my mom and sister in town for the week. That plus having Neal’s parents in town the week before, we’ve been spoiled. With our daycare being closed last week, it was so nice having family here to help us during an extremely busy work season for Neal and me. Magnolia is in an absolutely amazing daycare, but it has been hard not having family close by. Last week reminded me of that.
This past weekend was a really nice balance of doing absolutely nothing and living it up with my mom and sister. I always struggle with wanting to use the weekend to get a gazillion things done and just needing a weekend to rest and relax. Finding the balance is a struggle because I either end the weekend exhausted or I feel like I wasted 2 days.
On Saturday, Neal and I relaxed. I wasn’t feeling very well, so it was nice to just hang out around home. We went on quite a few walks with Magnolia and Theodore, took a nice long nap while Magnolia napped, ran errands as a family, went out to dinner as a family, and then closed out the day with a long walk around the lake.
On Sunday, it was a girls day! My mom, sister, and I started out the day with a little shopping (I bought some cute work clothes) and then went to the movies to see Bad Moms. All I can say is, I love Kathryn Hahn. Love. After the movies, we swung by the house and then Alison, Magnolia, and I ran a few errands. We swung by Bath and Body Works, picked up a few things at Target, and then did a little grocery shopping at Wegmans. For dinner Sunday night, my mom made another delicious meal. She baked some of the chicken we bought at Wegmans and then made a homemade Greek orzo salad and cucumber salad! Everything was delicious!
All in all, it was a really fun weekend and was the perfect balance of relaxing, getting things done, and having fun. It was nice to take a few days to step away from the craziness and to be with people I love and adore.
