Busy Week + Weigh-In

This was a really busy week, but I was so thankful to have my mom and sister in town. Things are just so much easier when you have family to help. This was a long Weight Watchers week for me as I weighed in last Wednesday instead of Friday due to my trip to Chicago.  As I shared Wednesday, my trip to Chicago was outstanding.  The company was amazing and I really enjoyed having some time away from DC for a few days.  I chose not to track my Weight Watchers Points there and I still feel good about my decision.  I didn’t go crazy in Chicago by any means, but it was nice to eat and drink without worry.

NOW Foods
Last weekend was a little hectic, with getting into DC Saturday morning at 3AM, going to the Billy Joel concert, and turning over the house between family visits.  I also ate my fair share of Garrett Popcorn, which used up a lot of my Points on Saturday and Sunday.  As the work week arrived, I was focused on eating only my daily Points, enjoying my workouts, and working to minimize the stress in my life right now.  I have a lot of my plate, more than normal, and I have to work to control my stress and to take care of myself.

When I am emotional, I tend to over eat.  When I am stressed, I tend to under eat.  Neither are good, so I tried hard to eat meals on schedule, to bring healthy foods to work, and to enjoy my workouts.  I made time to me this week, going for walks with my family, going to a goodbye happy hour after work, and connecting with my support system around the country.  It has definitely helped!  I won’t deny that it was a stressful week, but I am working to stay focused on what I can control and to be positive.

Thursday and Friday in Chicago were really yummy!  Thursday morning I ate breakfast at home and then had lunch and dinner in Chicago.  I had a burger for lunch Thursday and then appetizers, salad, salmon, and a few bites of dessert for dinner.  I also had a few glasses of wine.  It was a fun night with the bloggers.  Friday morning I had a few protein balls after yoga and then eggs and potatoes for breakfast.  For lunch we had a catered meal from Whole Foods, which was awesome!!  I also enjoyed some of the Now Foods snacks, which are addicting!  Friday night, after getting stuck in the airport, I had a Torta in the airport, which was really yummy.

After my trip to Chicago I focused on filling breakfasts (eggs, english muffins, and/or protein smoothies).  I ate a salad almost every day and enjoyed all the healthy dinners my mom cooked this week.

I got some awesome workouts in this week and feel really good. Exercising really helps my stress levels, so I’m glad I was able to get some good workouts in. I will say, I think I need to practice yoga more. It revived my soul on Friday and I think I could use that during the work week.

This week was all about balance. I have a lot going on and it was important to give my all on whatever I was working on, whether in the office or at home. Going to Chicago was really good for me. I really enjoyed spending time with other moms who blog and I really enjoyed the laughs and wine! I’m also glad I took the time to get my workouts in this week. One area I really need to work on this next week is getting enough sleep. I stayed up until midnight or 1AM most nights, working to get things done, and I was just exhausted the next day (shocker). I still want to go get a pedicure and to see Bad Moms. We’ll see if I can do those two things this next week.

Weigh-In

I was really happy with this week. Like I’ve shared, I was really stressed this week and definitely felt the pressure to have a good work week. I enjoyed my time in Chicago and am proud of my focus after returning home. I also hit the 10 pounds lost mark!! YAY!! It feels good to hit that milestone. My next goal is to hit 234, which is my pre-pregnancy weight from December 2014.

Starting weight: 254 pounds
Week 12 weight: 243.8
Week 12 results: -1.8
Total weight loss: -10.2 pounds

Neal and I have a really quiet weekend ahead of us and I want to leave it that way. Between having contractors in the house and family visiting, I think we’re both ready for two quiet days. My mom and sister will be back Saturday night, so we might have to do a girls night that night!

All in all, it was a good week and I’m proud of my weight loss. On to week 13!

Looking for something?

Trauma has convinced me over the years that shutti Trauma has convinced me over the years that shutting down and closing myself off will protect me.

What I am reminded, time and time again, is that hope and healing occur in a space of openness. That I am not alone in my experiences, no matter how difficult they are or how alone I may feel.

Today on BalancingToday.com I am sharing my story and opening up about secondary infertility and PCOS. I was scared to write this post and though I am nervous even now, I know that I am sadly not alone in this battle.

I share my story both for me and for the women battling behind closed doors. You are not alone.
This is where it all started for me. 1 year ago I This is where it all started for me. 1 year ago I was depressed, stressed, and my days were filled with anxiety. As I was strolling through Wegmans, I walked by the CBD end cap. I had no idea what CBD was at that point. I honestly thought it was illegal.

I went home and started doing research. I returned to Wegmans a week later and bought my first bottle of CBD. Between March and August I tried a ton of brands, but everything changed when Betty introduced me to Green Compass!

The quality of CBD was unlike anything I had used before. The color alone was shocking! Green Compass CBD was almost clear and the taste was amazing (not earthy). What mattered most was that the CBD worked like nothing before. With Green Compass my anxiety was non existent after taking my CBD.

4 months later, in December I took a leap and joined Green Compass and it was the best decision I ever made! Now I help others in need of CBD and it’s the most fulfilling side gig. It brings me so much joy and the money is literally changing my family’s future!

If you or a loved one are in pain, have anxiety, battle stress, or want to explore the many benefits of CBD, let’s talk!

If you’re looking for a way to make extra income, but don’t like the idea of direct sales or MLM, let’s talk!

Green Compass has changed my life and I’m actively watching it change others’. I’d love to help you too!
I often think about my childhood and life before c I often think about my childhood and life before cell phones. We played outside, watched Disney movies on VHS, and went on lots and lots of walks. I always joke that my parents had no idea where I was, but the truth is, they knew I was safe outside. I’m so thankful for how this past year has brought me back to the simple life. We go on walks almost every day and have spent so much of this winter outdoors. I’m thankful for how this year opened my eyes to the world around me and brought me back to what fills my cup.

Crown Card (top) represents the part of me that wants to reach beyond myself. It can give you an idea of how to serve others✨The Bridge - “A gesture of acceptance, of saying yes rather than withdrawing, separating, and saying no”. A Bridge can not be forced. It must be made with love to withstand the weather of life.

Heart Card (middle) represents what is currently residing in my heart and tells of deep longing, calling, or conflict✨The Offering - A call to action. A time for something to be given or given up. “When we offer up something to the greater good, we lighten our load and become more able to serve”.

Our Christmas lights and Christmas tree are still Our Christmas lights and Christmas tree are still up and I’m ok with it. Sitting outside and decompressing from the day while my kids play in the snow. Soaking up the here and now and allowing myself to do what I need to do to take care of me!
It’s a beautiful, snowy day here in Maryland. I’m cleaning the house and doing laundry (Neal and I tag team), planning out the week ahead, cooking dinner in the crockpot, and sending out goodies to new Green Compass customers. It’s a good day! (Day 3 no caffeine!)
Oops! Forgot the trails would be covered in snow. Oops! Forgot the trails would be covered in snow. We were totally under prepared but my kids had a blast. One of the blessings that has come out of this pandemic for us is spending time outside year round. A year ago, we wouldn’t have been hiking snow covered trails. So thankful for this time to explore Maryland by trail.
