Part of my mission to bring back my healthiest lifestyle is to begin working out during the work day again. I’ve struggled to make mid-day workouts a part of my routine over the past couple of years, but I am excited to make them a priority and to bring back my mid-day sweat sessions.
For me, half the battle is blocking out time on my calendar to work out. It’s far too easy for me to fill my day and to go without a mid-day break. Eating lunch while I work and staying at my desk has become a habit, and I know I am healthiest when I make a mid-day break a priority.
Over the summer, when my appointment schedule is light, I am dedicated to taking the steps to make working out during the work day a priority. Though I won’t be able to find a set time to work out each day, I know that I can block out an hour each day to run down to the gym.
With an hour blocked on my calendar each day, my next step was to create a gym bag to take to work each day. I wanted a separate bag, with its own set of toiletries, clothes, water bottle, notebook, etc. and was really excited to create personalized gear on Zazzle!
I’ve always loved Zazzle and have purchased lots of fun, personalized gifts for loved ones through them, but I hadn’t thought of buying myself workout gear through them until now. I bought four things through Zazzle and found this adorable flamingo design as a year round reminder of how great I want to feel when the hot summer months arrive each year.
Here’s a look at everything I gathered/bought in order to create my workday gym bag…
- Jumbo Tote
- Workout clothes (capris, t-shirt, sports bra, socks, cross trainers)
- Headband
- Notebook (to log workouts)
- Small towel
- Large towel
- Toiletries bag (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wipes, deodorant)
- Reusable Grocery Bag (to take dirty clothes back home)
- Granola bars
- Water Bottle
- Headphones
- Playlists on my iPhone
I am still working out at OrangeTheory twice a week, so my goal is to work out at work three times a week. I haven’t locked down the workouts I am going to do at work, but I want to find a good mix between cardio and lifting weights. I’ve thought about only lifting weights, but cardio is such a great mid-day stress reliever.
Regardless of what I do at the gym or how often I’m able to go, I want to make myself a priority again. I’m excited to get away from my desk and to work out again during the work day! It’s the perfect time of year to get back into the habit, and I love my new gym bag! I’m ready to go after we get back from Texas!
