Yesterday ended up being such a beautiful day here in DC! They had been forecasting rain for about a week, so I was beyond excited to see the sun shining when I headed to OrangeTheory yesterday morning. After two days of gardening and working on the house, I knew I wanted to relax on Memorial Day and soak up the hours with Neal and Magnolia.
Yesterday morning I headed to OrangeTheory, made breakfast for the family (eggs 3sp, bacon 3sp, and watermelon 0sp), and then blogged/relaxed while Magnolia took her morning nap. After Magnolia woke up, we made lunch (tuna 2sp, light mayo 2sp, relish 2sp, seasoning, and pretzel thins 6sp) and then headed over to Butler’s Orchard to pick strawberries.
We love Butler’s Orchard and thought yesterday would be an ideal day to go before strawberry season really gets going. We arrived at the Orchard around 1PM, parked, and then headed over to the fields via tracker pull.
This was Magnolia’s first time picking strawberries. She didn’t really understand the concept at first, but she definitely warmed up to the idea of picking strawberries. It was super cute!
We picked strawberries for about 20 minutes and then we headed back to the farm. Magnolia loves being outside, but the poor thing gets so hot if she’s out in the sun too long. When she started tugging on Neal’s shorts to be picked up, we knew it was time to head back. We picked about $6 worth of strawberries and are looking forward to eating them with breakfasts and as snacks this week. I’m sure we’ll plow through them pretty quickly!
Once back at the farm, we walked around the petting zoo area and then headed to the mall to exchange a few things. The mall was crazy, but I was happy to get those returns off my to do list. We got home around 4:30PM and then I headed to Target to pick up a few things for the week. My mom and sister will be in town this week, so I have a short work week ahead of me. I have so much to get done before taking Thursday and Friday off, so I took some time last night to prepare for the week ahead.
We closed out our weekend with beef burgers and tater tots (beef patty 9sp, cheese 2sp, lettuce 0sp, and tater tots 9sp), which was delicious! I’m so happy the summer months are here and I loved being able to spend so much time outside this weekend with my family. It was a perfect weekend and I’m ready to crank out the next two days at work.
