Last week, I headed to Las Vegas for a few days with my mom and brother Paul to celebrate their birthdays. I visited Paul a few years ago, but never made it down to the strip that trip. This was my first time on the strip and boy was it interesting. I chuckled a little on the bus from the airport to the strip as I literally felt like I was on a bus to adult Disneyland with 30 other adults. It was funny.
After checking into our hotel room at the Monte Carlo, the three of us headed to lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s BURGR. The restaurant was really fun and the food was amazing! We ordered hummus to start and then split a portobello burger and the hell’s kitchen burger. It was all amazing.
After lunch we walk around the strip and made our way over to the Bellagio. It is such an amazing hotel, and definitely where I’d love to stay next time. We walked around the fountain, admired the Chihuly glass sculpture, and did a little gambling! I won $125 there!
Next we walked over to Caesar’s Palace, which was also awesome! We made our way over to the Colosseum and Forum Shops. The sculptures around the hotel were neat and the ceiling of the Forum Shops was really beautiful.
On our way back to our hotel, we grabbed a Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity. I love the original Serendipity in NYC and was glad my mom and brother could enjoy a piece of it. Afterwards we headed back to our hotel to relax before going out the evening.
After walking around the strip again Wednesday night, we made our way back to our hotel and enjoyed dinner at Dragon Noodle. I ordered the Curry Noodles and shared a sushi roll with my brother.
Thursday morning, after waking up at 4:15AM thanks to staying on EST, I went for a 6 mile walk with my mom around the strip. It felt great to get out early and get a good workout in before the day got going.
We stopped into the Venetian Hotel for a little bit and grabbed some juice before handing back to our hotel. Once back at the Monte Carlo, we booked spa treatment for the afternoon. My brother and I both got massages and my mom got a pedicure. It was so nice being able to enjoy the steam room, sauna, and hot tub as well. It was a nice treat! Afterwards we got cleaned up and headed to my brother’s place (he lives in Vegas). It was nice getting away from the strip for the evening and celebrating my brother’s birthday at a local restaurant.
Friday morning, after waking up at 4:15AM again, I headed down to the hotel gym for a workout. I worked out on the Cybex for 30 minutes and then lifted some weights. The one thing I hated about Vegas was all the smoke. Even the gym was smokey! I headed over to NYNY after my workout and enjoyed a hot cup of peppermint tea before meeting up with my mom. We got ready for the day and then went to lunch at Bruxie. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which was absolutely amazing!! I love it!
After lunch we walked back down to the Bellagio, gambled some more, and bought tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld! We went back and forth on whether or not to see a show, and I’m glad we did! After buying tickets we walked around the strip some more, gambled some more (won another $170), ate a little dinner at La Gloria, and headed to the show.
Jerry Seinfeld was hysterical and seeing him made me love my husband more. Neal is a huge Jerry Seinfeld fan, but I’ve never really connected with the show. Jerry Seinfeld did such a great job of finding the comedy in real life situations. He was great!
I flew back to DC Saturday morning and have enjoyed a quiet Sunday at home with Neal and Magnolia. It was so great spending time with my mom and Paul and look forward to seeing them again next month in Texas.
Vegas is an interesting place, but boy is it a lot of fun! I can’t wait to visit Vegas with Neal sooner than later. I know we’d enjoy going to some of the fancier restaurants and seeing more of the shows.
