I didn’t expect it, but working with a life coach gave me a clarity and excitement for life I haven’t felt in years. Life coaching has always intrigued me, but I never knew where to start. I didn’t really understand the purpose or goal of life coaching. I mean, I figured a life coach would work with you to figure out the path you should be on and what it might take for you to get there, but I didn’t know what it would look like for me.
I consider myself to be a pretty ambitious person. I dream big, work hard, and have managed to add quite a few things to my plate these past 5 years. I love what I do for a living, I love my blog, I love my family, and I’m finally falling in love with the place we call home. I’m happy, but I’ve felt like something was missing. Was I living with passion or was I just going through the motions?
Working with a Life Reimagined® life coach has made me realize that although I’m working hard, in many ways, I’ve lost the joy that should always accompany purpose. I’ve gotten into a rut of doing what I need to do and have lost the spark that brings joy and happiness to my life. I didn’t know how my first talk with a life coach would go, but I can honestly say, that one hour brought back the confidence I need to live a purpose driven life.
Leading up to my online appointment with my Life Reimagined® life coach, I spent about 20 minutes filling out the Life Reimagined® LifeMap. I love personality assessments and quizzes to aid in finding clarity, so I was excited to fill out my LifeMap.
The LifeMap consisted of 5 different areas: Gifts, Passions, Impact, Values, and Purpose. Sometimes it’s hard for me to fill out these types of assessments because I’m not always honest with myself. I made sure I went with my gut and was truly honest with myself. At the end of the assessment, the 5 areas of the LifeMap formed my personal LifeMap. I really liked my LifeMap, but I had a hard time connecting my passions with the other 4 areas. Sure I have a passion for well-being, traveling, and food, but how was I fulfilling those purposes with my life?
Sunday evening I logged into my Life Reimagined® account and waited for my online life coaching session to begin. I was nervous. Video chats make me nervous. At the top of the hour my session started and the most adorable life coach popped up on my screen. The coach quickly introduced herself to me, talked about the purpose and goal of our life coaching session, and gave me some additional information about Life Reimagined®. She then asked me about my goals for the session and what I had hoped to talk about.
To be honest, I had no idea where to start. All I knew is that I had lost the joy that comes with purpose and that I wanted to talk to her about work-life balance. Like magic, the life coach started asking me questions and one topic led to another, which led to another. Before I knew it I was working with a life coach on my professional career, work-life balance, and blog.
I didn’t want the session to end. The life coach, even just by listening to me, helped me to find a clarity and peace that had been missing from my life. I was able to talk to her about my goals, dreams, and plans. She asked the right questions to help me pinpoint exactly what I wanted, what was missing from my life, and what needed to leave my life. I just couldn’t believe how refreshing it was to speak with someone, someone I didn’t know, about my life…someone who was qualified to coach me.
I ended the Life Reimagined® life coaching session with a clear sense of how I wanted to move forward. I was given a 60 minute session for free, but it wasn’t going to be enough. I decided to sign up on my own for additional coaching. I wanted to be able to speak with my coach in a few months and to further discuss the path I’ve taken and how it’s going. I left our session with some clear goals and takeaways.
- I need to set up some “quiet time” at work in order to get through e-mails, organize my office, and work on projects each day. It’s far too easy for me to give every second of my day to someone else, but I know it’s important to set aside uninterrupted time.
- I multitask all the time and it sucks the life out of me. I need to be okay with doing one thing at a time.
- It’s okay to just check e-mail a few times a day. When did e-mail become the new text message?
- I need to start taking a lunch break…and to leave my office, even if just for 10 minutes. I’ll be more productive if I take that time.
- I write here on Coffee Cake and Cardio because I love to write and it brings me joy.
I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity I was given to try Life Reimagined® and have been really looking forward to sharing my experience with you all. Even if you don’t know exactly what you’d talk about, if you’re looking to find clarity and to redefine your purpose, consider working with a Life Reimagined® life coach. I can’t even begin to share the energy it has given me and how great the past 5 days have been. I want that for each of you…to live with purpose and to find exactly what brings you joy.
