Picture this… You put on your ugliest holiday sweater, meet up with your family and friends, run the merriest 5K on the planet, and then celebrate by drinking hot chocolate under the “snow”. Sign. Me. Up!!
This year we’ve signed up for 3 races we can do with Magnolia and I’m so incredibly excited to run The Ugly Sweater Run on December 12, 2015 at the National Harbor just outside Washington, DC.
The Ugly Sweater Run is being held around the country this year and is such a great way to celebrate the holidays in a healthy way (with some added treats post race)! Ugly sweaters, unlimited hot chocolate, Sam Adams for those over 21, snow machines, and a free hat… I just can’t wait to run this race with my family!
The Ugly Sweater Run Washington, DC (and nationwide) is a 5K race, but they encourage running, walking, running and walking, running with your dogs, and/or running with your kids and strollers. The race is family friendly and I’m excited to so excited to run another race with Magnolia in her stroller. I think the Ugly Sweater Run will make race 6 for her.
When I was pregnant, Neal and I talked a lot about being an active family. We wanted to show Magnolia, from a young age, how fun fitness can be. I wanted her to create memories around fitness and to fall in love with working out as a family (and to not hate running like I did as a kid).
Magnolia may only be a year old, but we’re really excited to continue running as a family each year. Last year Magnolia joined us for both a 5K and a 5 mile turkey trot over the holidays at just 2.5 months old. Although she’ll never remember these races, to have photos of our time together makes my heart so happy!
Today I’m giving away two tickets to any of the Ugly Sweater Races nationwide to one lucky reader! I also have a $5 discount code (COFFEEANDCARDIO) and hope y’all will join me here in DC or at another race around the county this year!
