Workouts
Monday morning my alarm went off at 4:15AM and I just couldn’t do it. For the first time in a month, I turned off my alarm and went back to bed. I was just exhausted and when I woke up at 6:30AM I didn’t feel bad about my impulsive decision to sleep in and blow off my workout.
My workouts on Wednesday and Friday at Orange Theory were awesome! I shared the Wednesday workout with y’all and the Friday one was just as awesome. The Friday trainer pushes me out of my comfort zone, which I love, so I’m thinking of adding it to my weekly schedule.
I haven’t been running at all, outside of Orange Theory, but I need to get some running in before November rolls around (aka a week from now). I have 3 races in November and 1 in December, so I need to make sure I’m into a good groove beforehand.
All in all though, I’ve been really happy with my workouts lately.
Meals
This week I ate lots and lots of veggies. I roasted a bunch of squash on Sunday and then cooked up some of the kale and cabbage we received in this week’s CSA box. I really enjoy fall and winter vegetables, so it has been fun getting more root vegetables and dark leafy vegetables in our CSA.
Most mornings this week I had eggs or oatmeal for breakfast. For lunch I enjoyed either leftovers, a salad, or soup. Though most weeks I don’t have the energy to cook big dinners during the work week, this week I made a couple of protein and veggie packed dinners. It was almost therapeutic cooking dinner for Neal and Magnolia and then sitting down as a family. I loved it.
The one area I wasn’t all that happy with this week was my water consumption. I didn’t do the best job drinking water during the work week, so I want to make sure I change that this next week. I just need to make it a priority and to keep my water bottles full throughout the day.
Self Care
Despite a draining work week, I ended the week feeling balanced. I got my nails done on Saturday, met up with an old friend on Tuesday night for dinner, went to bed early on Wednesday, watched my favorite shows on Thursday, and went on a Costco run/ice cream date with Neal and Magnolia Friday night. It was a fun week!
I’ve also been doing a little online “window shopping” this week. Every year I like buying myself something nice as a treat for my birthday. Last year I bought myself a Vera Bradley wristlet and this year I’m thinking of a few things. I realllllllllly want a tartan blanket scarf, but I’m also eyeballing a few things from Athleta. I did treat myself to some new Bath and Body Works candles on Friday and can’t wait to burn them!
The Week Ahead
My mom is coming into town this week and I’m really looking forward to spending some time with her. She was able to come to DC for Halloween last year and I’m excited to have her here again this year. My mom is going to help me organize a few things around the house while she’s here and I’m sure she’ll cook some amazing meals too.
I’m really looking forward to Halloween this year! We have some dear friends coming over and I’m looking forward to enjoying dinner together, going trick or treating with Magnolia, and watching the World Series. I don’t know if it can get any better!
This past week was great and I’m looking forward to the last week of October!
