I hope y’all have had a wonderful long weekend! My family came into town for weekend and we’ve had a wonderful time! After work on Friday I came home and enjoyed pumpkin beer and homemade English pasties with my family. Pasties bring back so many memories from my childhood and I loved seeing Neal and Magnolia enjoy a food from my father’s homeland.
Saturday morning we woke up early and headed over to Virginia for a long walk on the W&OD Trail. Neal tackled another 10 mile run and my sister and I enjoyed a 4 mile walk with Magnolia.
After our workouts we headed over to South Block East Falls Church for Acai Bowls. I ordered the Warrior Bowl with added coconut, which was delicious. We then ran a few errands around Virginia, including a trip to Tysons. My misson was to buy Magnolia her first pair of shoes but I failed miserably. Who knew shoes for a 1 year old could be so expensive. I think Zappos is calling my name.
For dinner Saturday night we all went to Not Your Average Joe’s, which was… Average. The service was really bad but I enjoyed being with my family. I ordered the “California roll”, which was a veggie sandwich.
Sunday was all about Mangnolia!! I woke up early, cleaned the house, and then ran a few errands with my sister. We swung by Costco, Kohl’s, and Torrid and then headed back home to finish prepping for Magnolia’s 1st birthday party.
We had a simple party at our home, celebrating with family and a few friends. My mom made her chile rellenos and Mexican lasagna and I made Magnolia’s birthday cake.
I can not believe that Magnolia will be 1 on September 14. The year flew by. We had so much fun celebrating her birthday yesterday and I plan to soak up every last second of this next week. I can’t believe I’ll have a 1 year old in 7 days. By the way, how amazing is this dress my mom made for Magnolia? Isn’t it just adorable?
Today I’m spending the day with my family before taking them to the airport. I have a lot to get done before the work week starts, but I’m so thankful for this time with my family and friends. It recharged my soul and I’m ready to tackle the week ahead.
