I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but you would never in a million years guess that it’s almost October here in Washington, DC. It is muggy, foggy, humid, hot, and just gross. Where are we? Well, lets pretend just for a second that it’s 50 degrees outside. The skies are blue, the air is crisp and the leaves are falling. Ahh… fall!
Fall is such an amazing time to get outdoors, to enjoy nature, and to…. run! Whether you’re a runner, a walker, or someone who’d like to run or walk more, the fall is a great time to get outdoors. Most cities offer various fun runs through the fall, which can also give you some incentive. This fall I’ve signed up for a few races, including The Great Pumpkin Run. The Great Pumpkin Run is actually in 10 cities, 6 of which still have races this fall!!
1. Grand Rapids, MI – October 3 and 4
2. Indianapolis, IN – October 10 and 11
3. Kansas City, MO – October 17 and 18
4. Akron/Canton, OH – October 24 and 25
5. Cincinnati, OH – October 31 (Hello Halloween run!!)
6. Washington, DC area (aka Maryland) – November 7
You can run, walk, or both for The Great Pumpkin Run! It’s a 5K run, on a farm, so you’re running on trails, paths, and fields. You even get to run through a corn maze in most locations, with guided help of course. Every finisher will earn a medal, hello race bling, and they even have a second medal you can earn if you’re a Tough Pumpkin!
I obviously had to sign up for the Tough Pumpkin. The thought of running a 5K with a pumpkin in my hands sounds crazy, but I love the idea and challenge! The race is capped off with apple cider and everyone gets a pumpkin! Win. Win! If you’re in the DC area, I hope you’ll join me. The Great Pumpkin Run is offering $5 off with the code GPRASH5. This code can be used for any of the cities.
I hope to see you there!
