It’s crazy to say, but I made it through the entire month of August without coffee and I didn’t miss it! I’m going on 2 months without coffee and it’s really amazing to have moved away from that dependency. I have so much more energy, as weird as that sounds, and am fully aware of my energy levels. Instead of staying up until 11PM I’ve been hitting the hay between 9PM and 10PM. Heck, the other night I went to bed at 8:30PM. I have had hot tea a couple of times these past 6 weeks, including a soy chai latte at Starbucks, but I’m really proud of myself for the changes I’ve made.
I probably saw the most change in myself postpartum this past month. My wedding rings are comfortable again, I’m back in my pre-pregnancy pant size, and I’ve continued to eat intuitively. Magnolia turns 1 in 11 days, which is emotionally overwhelming, but I’m excited to reach this milestone. Magnolia is starting to walk (eek!) and is thoroughly enjoying repeating our words. Where did the past year go?
I’m also excited to weigh myself on the 14th and to see how my scaleless summer ends. I’ve learned so much about myself this summer and am really proud of the changes I’ve made. I have no idea what I’ll weigh in a week and half, but I’m really, really happy! I’m the happiest I’ve been with my body in years.
In August I…

August Goals Revisited…
Clean out our basement, again — Yes!! I overhauled the basement.
Start selling things (garage sale, ebay, craigslist, etc) — No. I’m 2 shakes from organizing my own garage sale but have just been too busy with work. Neal and I do want to sell some things online though, so hopefully we can use our weekend to organize that.
Plan Magnolia’s 1 year birthday party!! — Yes! My mom and sister arrive today.
Find a new child development book to read — No. I haven’t made reading a priority lately.
Set up Magnolia’s 1 year photo shoot with Stefanie Harrington — Yes! Can. Not. Wait. We love Stefanie!
Create a fall running plan — Yes! Can’t wait to share it with y’all.
Create a workout plan after football season ends — Neal and I created a workout schedule because our schedules are nuts and it’s working extremely well. This week has been tough with the school year starting and my family coming into town, but we’re making it work.
Get back to 5AM workouts — Yes! I’ve also enjoyed evening workouts.
Sign up for a fall race — I’m excited to attend Wanderlust 108 in a few weeks but haven’t signed up for any other races yet. I have a few ideas.
Go to bed by 10:30PM — For the most part I’ve gone to bed by 10:30PM. I’m usually in bed between 9PM and 10PM.
Blow dry my hair more often — I got my hair cut and colored on Saturday and have styled it every day since. I’m really loving my hair and feel really great.
Wear a little makeup every now and then — No. Who am I kidding? I hardly ever wear makeup.
Plan fall trip to Iowa — No. We actually cancelled our plans and will be hanging out in DC this fall. Trying to save money.
