Last weekend I was invited to Reston Town Center to join their Reston Fit Club. Reston Town Center has partnered with Athleta Reston in order to offer free fitness classes every Sunday morning from 11:00AM-12:00PM under their outdoor pavilion through the end of October.
Having lived in Fairfax County for many years, I was really excited to head out to Reston for the morning. The Town Center is full of amazing stores and restaurants and has a really great events calendar. I was especially intrigued by their POUND class last weekend, so I headed over to the Reston Fit Club Sunday morning.
The weather was absolutely amazing Sunday morning. It was cool, crisp, and a little breezy. Just before 11AM about 20 people gathered under the pavilion for POUND. “POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses into a 45-minute series. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music!”
I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into, but I knew it was going to be fun. POUND is a legit boooooty workout. You are in a squat position for most of the class and use the ripstix to create a full-body jam session. The POUND class was lead by Studio Pink Fit. The instructor was really energetic and gave us lots of modifications for the various moves, which I appreciated. Most workouts are 100% doable for me, but I’m still healing from a broken toe from football, so I appreciated the modifications.
The Reston Town Center Fit Club has 3 more events this fall before the winter arrives. If you’re in the DC area, you should make your way out to the Reston Town Center for these events! They’re free and a great way to spend time with friends and family.
October 4 – Yoga with Beloved Yoga
October 18 – Pink Party Zumbathon with Sport and Health
October 25 – Self Defense for kids
After class I headed over to Athleta and bought 2 new shirts and a new jacket. I loved that the Athleta was right there and was open by the time class ended. Win. Win!
Have you ever tried a POUND class? What did you think of it?
Full Disclosure: I was given a free yoga mat, and a couple of gift cards to the Reston Town Center in exchange for trying the Reston Fit Club. All thoughts and opinions are mine!
