Well… guess who’s playing football again!?! It happened really quickly, but last Monday I decided to return to playing football. I played in my last game almost 2 years ago, so I was a little nervous about returning to the sport. To be honest, I didn’t know if I’d ever return.
I practiced on Tuesday and Thursday last week and felt pretty good. Honestly, playing football isn’t as hard racing from work, to daycare, to home, and to pratice. It’s pretty draining, waking up at 5AM for work and getting home from football at 10:30PM, but I’m excited to be back.
Neal, Magnolia, and I enjoyed a quiet Saturday leading up to the game. We had dentist appointments in the morning, grabbed bagels for breakfast, and then spent a few hours doing chores. At 3:30PM we packed up and headed over to PG Sports Complex for the DC Divas game vs the Cleveland Fusion.
I felt great on the field and was proud of what my body allowed me to do. I’m definitely not as strong or as fast as I was in 2013, but I felt good considering I had a baby 9 months ago. We beat Cleveland (yay) and will take on Boston this Saturday at 6PM. It’s going to be a busy week, but I’m eager to improve.
Today was an incredibly relaxing day and I needed it! I slept in until 7:30AM and then ran errands. I went to Trader Joe’s, Kohl’s, Target, and Giant.
Once home I made brunch for Neal and I, played with Magnolia, and then took a 3 hour nap with Magnolia, IT. WAS. AWESOME. Although Magnolia sleeps in her crib at night, I love taking naps with her in my bed. There’s nothing better than baby cuddles!
We had a wonderful weekend and I’m excited to be back on the football field.
