Now that our baby is 3 months old and we’ve had time to use a number of products, I thought I would share our favorite baby gear 0-3 months. A lot of baby gear is hit or miss. Every baby is so different, so you really never know what your baby will love. Still, there are some tried and true products, which just about every baby loves including our own! Here are our favorites.
Our Favorite Baby Gear: 0-3 months
Fisher-Price Rock n’ Play Sleeper — This cradle was a God send! We received one as a gift and then purchased another one during our daughter’s first week of life. We have one in our living room and one in our bedroom. Our daughter naps, plays, rests, and sleeps in the rock n play! I honestly don’t know what we’d do without it! It’s probably my favorite piece of baby gear.
Summer Infant SwaddleMe — We used these swaddles from the time our daughter was born up until she was about a month old. I never cared for the newborn swaddles they sell, as she could still move her arms around, which woke her up. We purchased two of these, which worked great! Even if one was dirty, we always had a backup (assuming I kept up with the laundry).
HALO SleepSack Cotton Swaddle — After about a month we switched over to the HALO SleepSack. While I liked the Summer Infant SwaddleMe, as our daughter got stronger, she would just bust out of it! We like the SleepSack because it acts as a blanket and as a swaddle.
Munchkin Latch BPA-Free Bottles — Although our daughter is breastfed, we started giving her bottles around 1 month. My goal was to get her use to taking a bottle since I’d be returning to work after 6 weeks. We tried out 3 bottles and this one worked the best. The nipple is a lot like the breast, in my opinion, and the valve on the bottom of the bottle does reduce the amount of air in the bottle. They’re really easy to clean, especially with the Latch bottle brush.
Gerber Prefold Cloth Diapers
— This are a MUST! We own a gazillion of them and still seem to run out from time to time. They are perfect for spit up, explosive diapers, or just random spills. We use them for everything!
Boppy Pillow — At first, I hated this pillow. I’m plus size and just felt like I couldn’t get it around me. BUT, as I started using it more and the pillow loosened, I started to love it. The one thing I regret not buying is a water resistant cover (aka breast milk resistant cover).
Mortimer the Moose and Activity Gym — Right around the 3 month mark our daughter became more and more invested in toys. We had shown them to her before, but she REALLY started to love them around 3 months. These are definitely her favorite toys right now! I bring the moose everywhere. It’s a great distractor, especially when she’s hungry and I can’t feed her that second. The activity gym is also awesome for tummy time. We’ve used it since she was born!
Fisher-Price Bouncer — Oh the bouncy seat! We bought our daughter the Mamaroo and it really does nothing for her. It doesn’t entertain her and it doesn’t put her to sleep. Some kids love it, but not this kid! One of the best purchases I ever made was this bouncy seat! She LOVES it and can spend hours in it if I let her. The toy attachment did nothing for her her first few months but around 2 and a half months she started going bonkers for it. She could stare at those toys all day long.
Pack ‘n Play — I know some people use the pack n’ play as a crib for the first few months, but we’ve used it as a changing station and play place. I first changed our daughter on the floor, on a changing pad, but that got old. It’s so much easier to change her on the pack n’ play attachment! I just have a cart with supplies next to it and it works perfect. She also plays in the pack n’ play, which I love.
Winter Must Haves for 0-3 months
Infant Bundleme — Now that it’s winter, we LOVE this thing! When it’s really cold I use both the bottom and the top cover. When it’s cold but not freezing, I usually unzip the top cover and just use a blanket. I love that you have the option to unzip. It also makes putting the baby in the carseat easier!
HALO SleepSack Fleece Swaddle — When the weather shifted in November we started using the fleece HALO SleepSack. It’s perfect for the cold nights when I just don’t feel like the nursery is warm enough. Sure it’s warm, but having her wear this fleece swaddle brings me comfort and I know she’s warm.
Wipe Warmer — This is awesome year-round honestly, but it’s especially nice in the winter. There’s nothing worse than a cold wet wipe!
