The night I gave birth to Magnolia I was overcome by separation anxiety. One minute Magnolia was safe in my womb and the next she became susceptible to the world around her. I wanted to keep her as close to me as possible, even if she was just resting in her hospital bed. For as ready as I was for my daughter to arrive, I didn’t anticipate how hard it would be to let her go from my womb.
Once home, Neal and I always kept Magnolia on the same level on the house as we were. She hung out with us on the main floor during the day and slept at our bedside at night. For her first 2 months, she was never out of one of our sights. I took comfort knowing that we were watching over her and gave us (really me actually) the time we needed to adjust and become comfortable with the idea of letting her out of our sight.
As Magnolia moves into her third month, the time has come to introduce her to her nursery and her nice, comfy crib. While I’m sure it’ll be a little adjustment for her, it will be quite the adjustment for me! I love having her right by my bedside at night, being able to pick her up when she cries, and placing her right back in her bassinet after her 4AM feeding. Moving her to her nursery is scary for me, but it’s time.
Knowing Magnolia is safe is one of the reasons I was thrilled to try out the Keera video monitor by Levana. I never thought I wanted a video monitor, as I really just needed to know if Magnolia was crying, but I’ve found so much comfort in the ability to see her on the screen from the living room or my bed.
The Keera video monitor set comes with a 3.5″ baby video monitor, which I keep at my bedside. Both the monitor and the cameras are wireless, so it’s really nice not having to worry about cords! I can take the monitor with me if she’s napping during the day.
The video monitor has 12 screen icons including a lullaby feature, picture and video option, camera control abilities, and a really neat feature which allows you to talk through the camera in the nursery.
In the nursery Neal and I set up one of the two cameras. While we aren’t currently using the second camera, I appreciated that the package comes with two cameras. If Magnolia moves into a larger room or we have another baby, it’ll be nice having two cameras.
The camera itself has a 2-10 ft optimal focal distance and provides up to 12 ft of night vision. The picture is incredibly clear, which is a must when using a video monitor. I can clearly see what Magnolia is doing, which helps me to determine whether she’s just fussing or if she really needs one of us to come get her.
We really can do more now knowing that Magnolia is safe. It was hard letting go and moving her to the nursery, but we’re learning and we’re growing! I’ve really appreciated having the Keera video monitor and the peace of mind it has provided me as a new mom.
For the month of November, the Keera video monitor with 2 cameras is on sale for $179.99! That’s $50 off the regular price of $219.99.
