Magnolia arrived just 4 hours shy of the 41 week mark! It was a long week, including a whirlwind of a weekend that ended in pure joy! I can’t wait to share Maggie’s birth story with y’all soon! Thank you for all of your love, support, and warm wishes.
The Bump – Taken Sunday morning before heading to the hospital.
Baby Prep – My amazing mother pretty much took over baby prep last week. She helped Neal and me around the house, took amazing care of Theodore while we were at work and at the hospital (Theo got an ear infection last week), and cooked some absolutely amazing dinners! If all that wasn’t enough, my mom made the baby the most adorable pumpkin hat last week! Seriously? How adorable is this? I really feel so blessed to have had her here this month!
Food Cravings – I didn’t really crave anything specific. I ate filling meals and tried to balance them out with healthy snacks.
Workouts – I walked a lot!! Especially once I went into labor.
Sleep – I actually slept pretty good last week (Monday – Friday)! This past weekend was another story, but I was able to take some good naps which helped. I got up 4-5 times a night to pee last week, which was annoying, but I always went right back to sleep. Sleeping towards the end of pregnancy was definitely difficult for me.
Symptoms – Lots of pressure and cramps. Each day was so different, but I definitely felt like I was getting closer and closer to delivery!
Thoughts and Feelings – My 41st week of pregnancy was an emotional one! My due date was full of mixed emotions. On one hand I was incredibly excited to have reached my due date. On the other hand I was discouraged knowing that the baby’s birthday was so unknown. Thankfully I had my 40 week appointment Tuesday morning and was able to talk to the doctor about my progress. I was only 1 cm dilated on the 9th but I was in good health so the doctor said inducing wasn’t necessary at that point. We agreed to schedule an appointment for week 41 and to talk induction at that point. I was at peace about everything and knew I just needed to make the most of each day!
The rest of the week went really well. I decided late in the week that Friday was going to be my last day of work before baby, so it was really nice being able to close up shop. My original plan was to work until I went into labor, but I quickly realized working into my 42nd week wasn’t what was best for me.
Being overdue was definitely emotional but it made our daughter’s arrival so incredibly special. We were just so ready to meet her!
