The Bump
Gender – It’s a girl!
Movement – From what I see and feel, the baby is still sitting really high on my right side. She loves kicking/punching my upper right abdomen and ribs, which is loads of fun when I’m sitting at a desk all day. I’m interested to know how she’s currently positioned, as I’m not too sure if she has flipped yet.
Maternity Photos – Neal and I had an absolutely amazing time on Friday morning at our maternity photo shoot in Georgetown with our photographer Stefanie Harrington. Stefanie was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to see our photos!! I’m so incredibly excited we’re having Stefanie document this next chapter of our lives!
Baby Prep – So. Much. Baby Prep!! I’ve jumped into high speed with August 1 being right around the corner. Although I have some things on my August to do list, my goal was to get most things done by August 1 that way Neal and I can enjoy our last few weeks before the baby arrives.
The big to do I started last week was packing my hospital bag. I’ve done a ton of research on what to bring with me and now have a pretty good idea of what to pack. It’s pretty funny to read all of the varying opinions on what to pack, so I’ll definitely share my final bag with y’all after I finish packing. I’m trying to find a good balance between having what I actually need (bare minimum) and having a few things to make me more comfortable.
Week 35 is going to be a big baby prep week, but I’m excited to get some of our last projects done before August arrives on Friday.
Baby Buys – Well, I made it almost 9 months, but I bought our baby her first bows last week on Etsy (Mae and Jane). I’m personally not a fan of big bows and flowers on babies, so I absolutely loved these little bows. I bought 3 felt bows in fallish colors and then 2 glitter bows in black and gold for Iowa football season!
Sleep – I’ve been staying up way too late to be honest. I’m sleeping ok, but I really need to do a better job of getting to bed early. I lost my FitBit last week, womp womp, so sadly y’all don’t get to see my sleep charts. Yes, I know you’re heart broken ;)
Food cravings – Protein! Eggs, steak, chicken, you name it. I’ve also been loving all of the summer veggies!
Workouts – Last week I went on a number of walks and to 2 spin classes. All of my workouts were awesome last week!
Symptoms – I know I’m going to jinx it, but my heartburn wasn’t all that bad towards the end of week 34. I think I did a better job of staying away from the foods that trigger my heartburn and have been drinking water slowly throughout the day vs guzzling it every 20-30 minutes. I’ve found water to be one of my biggest heartburn triggers, which is weird.
Doctors Appointments – Our appointment last week (33.2 weeks) was awesome!! I loved the doctor we saw and how the appointment went. The baby’s heart rate was strong and I’m measuring right on track. Our next appointment is on Thursday.
Thoughts and feelings – So yeah… I’m officially ready for 3 things; our daughter arriving, being on maternity leave, and everything fall (Bath and Body Works fall candles, pumpkin everything, football, cool weather, etc.). I honestly don’t mind the baby arriving as close to her due date as possible, but I’m also eager for her to arrive. I don’t want to wish away time, but I’m really looking forward to my time at home with the baby this fall, so I’m excited for these next 6 weeks to fly by. I can’t wait to get to know our daughter, to care for her, and to grow as a mom. Sure I’m nervous about the “4th trimester” and the lows that can come with it, but I know the highs will far outweigh the sleep deprivation and stress that comes with having a newborn.
Overall, I’m feeling really great and am thrilled to be 34 weeks pregnant. I can totally conceptualize how long 6 weeks is, so I know the end of this pregnancy is going to fly by.
