Bright and early yesterday morning Neal and I headed up to Germantown, Maryland to shop at Wegmans. I used to shop at Wegmans all the time when I was in college, but haven’t been in years!
I think it drives Neal crazy, but I tend to shop at 2-3 grocery stores a week. I stop into Giant for this, Trader Joe’s for that, and Whole Foods for odds and ends. Wegmans is great because they tend to have a lot of what I’m looking for, thus minimizing the number of other stores I have to go to.
Wegmans also carries some specialty products I can’t find anywhere else like P28 bread and Polar seltzer seasonal flavors.
After grocery shopping, Neal and I headed home and worked on a few things around the house. By 3PM I was exhausted, so I took an AWESOME nap before we headed down to Nationals Park for the Billy Joel concert. We met up with some dear friends of mine before the concert and then headed into the park at 8PM to watch Gavin Degraw perform. I’m a huge Gavin fan, so I was incredibly excited to hear that he was opening for Billy Joel.
At 9PM sharp, Billy Joel took the stage and rocked DC for 2 solid hours, singing 17 during the concert and 5 during the encore!!
Billy Joel is one of Neal’s favorite artists, so it was a lot of fun seeing him together.
You see, Neal and I actually have a little Billy Joel/Nationals Park history! 5 years ago, on July 11, 2009, Neal sent me a message on Match.com. I emailed him back while waiting for the Billy Joel/Elton John concert to start at Nationals Park. The next day I found out that Neal was at the same concert as me, and so began our love story. Being back at Nationals Park 5 years later, with baby in tow, to see Billy Joel perform was incredibly special! It was a great way to celebrate 5 years together before our daughter arrives!
Neal and I got home around 1AM, the latest I’ve stayed out in years, but boy did we have a great time! It was a really awesome pre-baby Saturday and date night!
