2 Amy’s Pizza Date

Last night Neal and I continued to prepare for our baby’s arrival by visiting another pediatrician’s office and touring the labor and delivery ward of my OBGYN’s hospital.  It’s actually pretty funny attending these types of things because you end up being surrounded by women who are pretty close to your own due date. To see how different we all looked and how excited we all were, it just made me happy.

Neal and I first visited a local pediatrician’s office which was really nice. It’s a little odd picking a doctor and practice because having the baby, but it’s great to have it secured and off of our plate.  After our visit, Neal and I headed into DC for dinner at 2Amy’s before heading to our next appointment.  2Amy’s is a pizzeria in Northwest Washington, which serves traditional Neapolitan style pizza.

We started off dinner with an order of arancini (Italian rice balls) as an appetizer.  They were so flavorful and absolutely delicious!

For our main course, I ordered the margherita pizza with prosciutto and Neal ordered the Abruzzese pizza.  Both were very good, but I regret adding the prosciutto to my pizza. It just wasn’t what I was expecting, so I gave all the prosciutto to Neal for his pizza, which he enjoyed!

After dinner Neal and I headed over to the hospital for our labor and delivery tour.  We were both really excited to see where the magic is going to happen in 7.5 weeks (ish), but the hospital was actually flooded with women in labor so we were only able to see the recovery rooms.  As some of y’all may know, the government shut down last October for a couple of weeks thus causing a baby boom here in Washington, DC.  The hospital said they are seeing numbers well above average, so many days the ward is completely full.  Thankfully we’re not due for another month and change, so hopefully this rush will be over before we deliver.  If not, we’ll just have to roll with it.

After our hospital tour Neal and I grabbed a scoop of ice cream at Cow Wow (rainbow sherbet for me and apple pie for Neal) before heading back home.  I had wicked heartburn yesterday, and I’m sure the pizza didn’t help, so I headed to bed as soon as we got home.  It was a really fun way to knock a few things off our to do list for July and I loved being able to spend some one-on-one time with my hubby.

What’s your favorite type of pizza?  Let me know your thoughts on the Coffee Cake and Cardio facebook page!

Woof, what a weird, sad, depressing, and confusing Woof, what a weird, sad, depressing, and confusing first week of the year.

To focus on the good, I took care of myself this week. I did multiple meditations, took time to be outside, made realistic to do lists, established boundaries to give myself space, celebrated my daughter’s thriving in their first week back to virtual learning post break, and focused on the things I love.

One moment I treasure each work day are those first 15 minutes. I look out the window, drink my coffee, and make a list of everything on my mind (Brain Dump). It gives me clarity, focus, and just a moment for ME. Before meetings, before projects, before serving others, I take a moment for ME!

What did you do for YOU this week?

Last January I just felt awful. Seasonal depressio Last January I just felt awful. Seasonal depression was on the horizon, there weren’t things to look forward to, and little did I know a global pandemic was around the corner. I keep saying 2020 was the year I needed to turn things around, and I mean it. I found CBD, which helped my anxiety/stress/depression, I was blessed with more time with my family, I moved more, and I lost weight. It has been really good for me to open up to my needs and to allow change to happen. I continue to work on being MY best self, which is a battle as I’ve spent so much of my life trying to be better for others. It’s a shift I’m here for! Really looking forward to today and the days ahead.
A fresh start. One of the many reasons I love new A fresh start. One of the many reasons I love new years. Today I opened my new (and first) Archetypes deck, which brought lots of joy. I started with an interview, getting to know the deck, and then did a reading for 2021. I’ve always loved Tarot cards and knew I wanted my own (thanks, Neal!). This is The Wild Unknown Archetypes Deck and it’s just beautiful ❤️
I am so thankful for this year. The lessons learne I am so thankful for this year. The lessons learned, the challenges, and the great slow down. I needed this year and I do not want to go back to the life I had before March 13, 2020. I continue to pray that my family and friends around the globe remain healthy and that we’ll see each other again soon. I will never take them or our time together for granted again. 2021, let’s go!
