Last night Neal and I continued to prepare for our baby’s arrival by visiting another pediatrician’s office and touring the labor and delivery ward of my OBGYN’s hospital. It’s actually pretty funny attending these types of things because you end up being surrounded by women who are pretty close to your own due date. To see how different we all looked and how excited we all were, it just made me happy.
Neal and I first visited a local pediatrician’s office which was really nice. It’s a little odd picking a doctor and practice because having the baby, but it’s great to have it secured and off of our plate. After our visit, Neal and I headed into DC for dinner at 2Amy’s before heading to our next appointment. 2Amy’s is a pizzeria in Northwest Washington, which serves traditional Neapolitan style pizza.
We started off dinner with an order of arancini (Italian rice balls) as an appetizer. They were so flavorful and absolutely delicious!
For our main course, I ordered the margherita pizza with prosciutto and Neal ordered the Abruzzese pizza. Both were very good, but I regret adding the prosciutto to my pizza. It just wasn’t what I was expecting, so I gave all the prosciutto to Neal for his pizza, which he enjoyed!
After dinner Neal and I headed over to the hospital for our labor and delivery tour. We were both really excited to see where the magic is going to happen in 7.5 weeks (ish), but the hospital was actually flooded with women in labor so we were only able to see the recovery rooms. As some of y’all may know, the government shut down last October for a couple of weeks thus causing a baby boom here in Washington, DC. The hospital said they are seeing numbers well above average, so many days the ward is completely full. Thankfully we’re not due for another month and change, so hopefully this rush will be over before we deliver. If not, we’ll just have to roll with it.
After our hospital tour Neal and I grabbed a scoop of ice cream at Cow Wow (rainbow sherbet for me and apple pie for Neal) before heading back home. I had wicked heartburn yesterday, and I’m sure the pizza didn’t help, so I headed to bed as soon as we got home. It was a really fun way to knock a few things off our to do list for July and I loved being able to spend some one-on-one time with my hubby.
