Gender – It’s a girl!
Baby’s Size – At 28 weeks the baby is around 2.5 pounds and 16 inches long.
Movement – Baby girl still picks and chooses what days she wants to be active, but I’m feeling her a lot more often these days.
Symptoms – Last week I thought I had a bladder infection, so I headed to the doctors Friday morning. Thankfully all was well, so hopefully the symptoms I was having don’t return. Aside from heartburn and carpel tunnel, all is well! I feel uncomfortable on occasion, especially after sitting for a while, but walking around usually helps.
Doctors Appointments – I’m officially done with my monthly appointments and move to a bi-weekly appointment schedule. It’s bonkers to think that I’ll be going to the doctors every other week now and then weekly at the 36 week mark. I think the rest of this pregnancy is just going to fly by. Since the baby is doing well, it doesn’t look like I’ll have another ultrasound. I have mixed feeling about it as I’d love to see the baby, but on the flip side I’m just grateful she’s doing great and doesn’t require extra tests! As of my 27 week (and 4 days) appointment the baby was measuring at 28 weeks and 1 day. I also only gained 2 pounds during weeks 24 through 27.4, which made me happy! I’ve been working really hard to control my eats and to only gain what the baby needs!
Food cravings – Juice!! I’ve been craving pressed juice and smoothies like whoa! Thankfully there are some really great options here in the DC area, so I’ve taken a few trips to South Block Cafe and found a new to me juice at Whole Foods. Not a bad craving to have!
Workouts – Spin and walking have been my go to workouts lately. I haven’t lifted weight in a few weeks, which I’m starting to regret, but oh well. I might try to add upper body conditioning to my workouts this week, but we’ll see!
Sleep – Neal and I decided to turn the AC down a bit at night and let me tell y’all, we’ve been sleeping like babies! It’s going to cost us more, but it’s worth the quality sleep!
Baby Prep – This week Neal put the baby’s dresser together! I can’t wait for the crib to arrive and to see the nursery come together. I really need to find a pediatrician, but I just haven’t had time to call offices. I’ll get there.
Thoughts and feelings – Overall I’m feeling really great but I can’t deny that I’m a little nervous about these next 12 weeks. Obviously I know that I’m growing a baby and that weight gain is inevitable, especially during the 3rd trimester, but it’s just crazy to think of how much more the baby is going to grow. I’m already feeling rather large, so knowing that I still have 3 months is just slightly overwhelming.
Last week I also had a few “holy crap we only have 12 more weeks” moments, but I think that’s normal. I’m not nervous about the baby arriving at all, but I think I’m just overwhelmed with all that’s going to change and all the prep work and decisions that need to be made. I’m really looking forward to our daughter arriving and to our first few months together while I’m on maternity leave, but it’s nerve wracking to think about daycare, being great parents for her, and protecting her.
10 months is a long time to be pregnant, but as each week goes by I’m more and more grateful that we’re given 40 weeks to prepare for baby! It’s a lot at times but I’m really excited to meet our baby and for this new chapter!! I’m also really excited to get my body back and to get back in shape! All in all, I’m a little overwhelmed at the 28 week marker but I’m excited!
