The Bump – 21 weeks vs 26 weeks
Gender – It’s a girl!
Name game – Neal and I have narrowed down our list of names and are excited about the name we’re leaning towards. We’re keeping names to ourselves until she arrives in order to avoid a gazillion opinions, but we’re excited to introduce our baby girl after she arrives.
Maternity clothes – I just ordered a few new things from Old Navy, but I’ve still been rocking cotton skirts, tees, tank tops, and shorts that I ordered last month.
Movement – She’s still super chill, though I did feel her around lunchtime one day last week which was really sweet! It’s a little nerve racking not feeling her kick everyday, but I just have to trust that she’s okay. I think God is teaching me early that I won’t always be able to protect her and be in control. I have to trust.
Symptoms – I’ve been a little more uncomfortable lately. Although I don’t feel her kick much, I am starting to feel the effects of having a growing baby inside of me. My lungs get tight and my sides hurt from time to time, but I think she’s just moving my organs all around. I’m still dealing with the pregnancy induced carpal tunnel, but I’d assume it’ll be around for the rest of my pregnancy and maybe a little beyond. Other than that, still dealing with heartburn here and there, though it isn’t nearly as bad as it was.
Food cravings – Still craving carbs like whoa! I was super good last week despite my cravings, but I totally grabbed some macaroni and cheese at the Whole Foods hot bar Friday night. It was EPIC! I’ve also loved these almonds from Blue Diamond… even though they give me heartburn.
Workouts – I’ve been feeling absolutely fantastic when it comes to my workouts. I rejoined The Pedal Studio and went three times last week! Each workout was really great and left me feeling a lot more like myself. Spinning with a baby belly is interesting to say the least. Staying in the saddle too long is uncomfortable, but thankfully we’re out of the saddle a lot.
Sleep – Ehh… I’m starting to get uncomfortable. I have a pregnancy pillow already so I think I just need to figure out a new position or something. I also think I wait too long to get up to pee in the middle of the night, but I can’t say I’m all that aware I’m doing it. Getting out of bed is also getting odd. Sitting straight up is getting tough, come on abs stick with me, so I’ve started this awkward roll out of bed, which is hilarious.
Thoughts and feelings – My 26th week of pregnancy was really great! Heading back to The Pedal Studio after only attending gym classes for a few months was probably the best decision I’ve made in a while. I absolutely love independent spin studios and feel like their classes are worlds better than spin classes offered in larger gyms. Last week’s workouts made me feel like myself again, which is huge for my wellness at this point. I felt confident and burned some awesome calories each class. The week just made me feel healthy!
Last week was also my last full week of the second trimester, which is bonkers! As slow as this pregnancy feels some weeks, I feel like I’m hitting milestones fairly quickly. It was a great second trimester overall and I’m really excited to move into the homestretch.
One thing Neal and I did last week was to create a list of dates we want to go on before the baby arrives. Though I’m determined to still do lots of things after she arrives, I know life will be quite different. I really want to treasure the time when it’s just the two of us and enjoy our last DINK (Dual Income No Kids) summer here in DC.
All in all things are great. I’m excited to move into the third trimester this Friday and to push through my 27th week of pregnancy. I’m eager to get to 30 weeks and am grateful it’s just around the corner.
