Yesterday morning Neal and I ran the FitFoodie 5K in Fairfax, VA. I’ll be the first to admit that I was a little nervous about running the 5K at almost 29 weeks pregnant. Although I’ve continued to go on long walks and to take spin classes throughout this pregnancy, running has not been my go to exercise.
My goal was to listen to my body, to run when I felt like it, and to power walk the rest of the time. Thankfully Neal stuck with me, which I really appreciated as I know he could have finished the race in half the time I did.
Neal and I started out the 5K running. We ran for almost half a mile at about a 10 minute mile pace. We then started to power walk and ran 4 other times during the race.
We finished the 5K (3.15 miles) in 47:19, which was just dandy.
I’m really proud of myself for running the 5K at 28.5 weeks pregnant and for not allowing fear to stop me.
A huge thank you to FitFoodie, Health Magazine, and Cooking Light for the race entry and for inviting me to be a FitFoodie Ambassador! Neal and I had a wonderful time and loved the whole experience!
