Gender – It’s a girl!
Movement – I can feel baby most days after work and dinner. She’s pretty chill during the day, but makes herself known here and there as I’m settling down for the day.
Symptoms – Here’s a new one for y’all… Pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. Essentially my hands go numb from time to time because the nerves in my wrists are being pinched due to position and/or swelling. It’s weird but the doctor wasn’t concerned. Still dealing with heartburn from time to time but it wasn’t all that bad last week.
Food cravings – All carbs! Fruit, bread, pasta, you name it. I now understand what women mean when they say all they wanted were carbs as they moved into the third trimester. Here’s a sense of what I ate during week 25.
Workouts – Workouts were fabulous last week!!
- Monday- weight lifting
- Tuesday- long walk
- Wednesday- 30 minute Body Revolution cardio workout
- Thursday- long walk
- Friday- rest day
- Saturday- lots and lots of walking while shopping (it counts)
- Sunday- 60 minute spin class and 2 hour hike
Sleep – Still staying up too late but I have tons of energy. Still getting 7ish hours of sleep a night.
Doctors Appointments – My 24 week appointment went really well. Doctor said I have gained a little more than she’d like during weeks 20 – 24 and encouraged me to cut back on my fruit intake after we talked about my diet. She said women often don’t realize how fruit is affecting their gain because it is “healthy”. I also had my glucose tested Friday, so hopefully I’ll find out the results this week and I won’t have gestational diabetes. As I shared yesterday, it is what it is and I just want the baby to be healthy! My next appointment isn’t until week 28.
Thoughts and feelings – Neal and I both feel like we essentially have two months left to get things done before it’s go time. Although I’m not due until September 8, by the time August rolls around the baby could technically come any time. I of course hope she stays put until September, but I think it’s good for Neal and me to consider June and July our months to get everything ready for the baby’s arrival and to enjoy our pre-baby lifestyle. On one hand it stresses me out to think we only have two months until August, but on the flip side it kinda lights a fire under my tush to get things done. I’m excited to enter the 3rd trimester in another week!
Body wise I feel good BUT the weight gain is really difficult. While I am trying my hardest to control my eats and to work out it is really challenging to live as I did before I was pregnant. Growing a child is a lot of work and though I totally respect women who only gain the recommended amount, I honestly don’t know how one stays within the range without essentially dieting and restricting themselves. As I’ve shared numerous times, I definitely eat more carbs than I did before I was pregnant, but it’s tough to avoid carbs when I’m really hungry and they’re what I’m craving. I do feel like I’m trying hard to control my weight gain, but it is tough controlling something that I feel like I have little control over. Again sticking to the two month mission, Neal and I are dedicated to staying healthy, to working out, and to controlling what we can this last phase of my pregnancy.
As for the baby… AHH!! I am so excited to meet her in a few months. The doctor told me at my last appointment that she seems small based on my belly size, so I’m interested to see how she measures as the weeks go on. It’s funny to be working on managing my weight gain and yet to be growing a small child. It just seems contradictory. I’ll be sharing more about my baby prep next week, but I’ve been having a lot of fun preparing for her arrival! It is all getting very real and exciting.
