The Bump– It’s weird how the body changes week to week. This week I actually feel less “round”. I feel like I go straight from my chest down to my belly vs last week when I was a lot rounder. (picture below shows weeks 12, 13, and 14 from left to right)
Gender– Neal thinks we’re having a girl while I think we’re having a boy. We’ll see in 6 weeks!
Movement– None yet
Maternity clothes– I bought two new tops at Maurices while in Texas, but both were from the plus size section.
Food cravings– I’ve been super thirsty! Still in a “I have no idea what I’m hungry for” kind of mood. For example, here are Saturday’s eats:
- Breakfast- Scrambled eggs with sauteed mushrooms and a toasted everything bagel
- Snack- Raspberries
- Lunch- Beef brisket with pickles and BBQ sauce, potato salad, and pinto beans from Rudy’s BBQ
- Snack- Mango Carrot Ginger juice from Bolthouse Farms
- Dinner- Buffalo chicken pot pie and a side salad (recipe coming tomorrow)
Anything making you sick or queasy?– Nope
Workouts– I really didn’t make much of an effort to workout while in Texas. I did go for a few walks, but nothing intense.
- Monday, March 3– Walk in the snow with Theodore
- Tuesday, March 4– 30 min elliptical
- Wednesday, March 5– 30 min elliptical
- Thursday, March 6– 40 min walk
- Friday, March 7– 40 min walk
- Saturday, March 8– no workout
- Sunday, March 9– setting up for Stephanie’s party and dancing
Sleep– Switching to central time on Wednesday and then springing forward on Sunday was interesting, but I still got a great amount of sleep this week. I’m not as exhausted as I’ve been in the past, but I definitely took my fair share of naps this past week.
Pregnancy Brain– The highlight of my week was searching for close to 30 minutes for my black flats that I swore were in my backpack. Neal and I searched and searched and searched and guess where they ended up being … in my backpack. Womp womp!
Missing anything– My boys. Being in Texas was nice, but I definitely missed Neal and Theodore.
Happy or moody– Happy!
Thoughts and feelings– At the week 14 point of my pregnancy, I honestly forget that I’m pregnant 90% of the time. I feel extremely lucky that I haven’t felt sick for weeks, but because I feel like myself I forget that I’m growing a baby. I want to take advantage of how great I’m feeling though and really take a second look at my workouts and eats.
During the first trimester I tried my hardest to eat veggies and fruit but quite often I found myself eating bread and dairy. Now that I’m feeling better and can stomach almost all foods, I know that I need to back off of the amount of bread and dairy I have been eating. While in Texas I was able to enjoy some of my favorite Texas foods, but I’m eager to get back to DC and to re-examine my diet.
Now that I’m officially into my second trimester, I want to make sure that I keep a close eye on what I’m eating, how I’m feeling, and how much weight I’m gaining. I feel like I essentially have 6 more weeks to get organized around the house, to make sure I have some personal things in order, and to get my diet to where I’d like it to be for the remainder of my pregnancy. When 20 weeks rolls around and we find out the gender, I’ll be eager to start officially planning and preparing for the baby. Until then, it’s a great time for Neal and I to work on things around the house and to enjoy the beginning of the second trimester.
Looking forward to– Staying put for a while! It’ll be nice to get the house decorated and to start looking for some new furniture.
In case you missed them, my pregnancy updates so far–
