Saturday morning, Neal ran his first half marathon in Richmond, Virginia! We hit the road bright dark and early Saturday morning at 4AM. Although it was painful waking up at 3:30AM, it sure beat sitting in traffic Friday evening and paying for a hotel. Thankfully, a pit stop at WaWa made my early morning.
When we arrived in Richmond, it was pouring! Although scattered showers were in the early morning forecast, we did not expect for it to be pouring at 7AM.
Neal was a trooper, staying warm in a garbage bag we found at a first aid tent.
Captain America didn’t need protection from the rain…
At 7:38AM, I said goodbye and good luck to my amazing husband. He had 13.1 miles to crush!
Right after the Marathon start, I headed over to Starbucks for a hot drink to keep me warm while cheering. I wasn’t going to be able to see Neal throughout the race, so I placed myself on the last hill at the 12.5 mile mark. I had a feeling Neal would need some encouragement at that point.
Neal did an amazing job on Saturday, finishing the half marathon in 2:14.22! I honestly couldn’t be more proud of him!
Before hitting the road, we grabbed lunch at the Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe.
I was absolutely obsessed with this restaurant. The decor was just adorable and the food was delicious!
Once home, Neal and I got cleaned up and then took a GLORIOUS 3 hour nap! It was so glorious, I woke up thinking it was Sunday!
Neal and I had a wonderful weekend and I’m just so proud of him! I look forward to cheering him on for many many years!
