Last night I attended the kickoff event for the Get Well Challenge at Dawson’s Market in Rockville, MD! I’ve been looking forward to meeting the 39 other challengers and was overjoyed to see how diverse the group was. I sat there, just thinking how different we all were and yet how common our goals must be.
After mingling a bit, we filled out a few forms and then were introduced to the store manager, challenge organizer, and the 14 vendors who will be providing services to us throughout the 3 month challenge. Side note: Dawson’s Market has a KILLER smoothie/juice bar!!
Once a month we will meet with a dietitian (Jenna Umbriac) and motivator (Chantal Bserani), as well as weigh in once a week through Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
On top of that, we will be given access to 11 different health and fitness centers!
-Advanced Spine & Wellness Center
-Carpe Diem Wellness
-City of Rockville Recreation & Parks Department
-Go Figure Barre Studio
-Pilates Center of Rockville
-Rick’s Quick Fit
-Rockville Running Club
-The Mindfulness Center
-Thrive Yoga Rockville
This morning I took my very first class as part of the Get Well Challenge with Neighbor Strength!
I woke up bright and early, mixed together my AdvoCare Arginine Extreme, and then headed over to Dawson’s Market for the community workout.
Adam took us through a 45 minute workout consisting of jumping jacks, plank holds, squats, and mountain climbers to name a few. The workout was just what I needed first thing this morning. I was still sore from my yoga class on Sunday, but I really enjoyed the workout. Let me tell y’all, I was strugglin’ with the plank holds. My abs were screaming but it felt great in the end!
Adam is using these first couple of classes to assess our fitness levels and to better understand our goals. I love his attitude and his spirit and am really looking forward to attending his workouts each week!
I’m really excited about the Get Well Challenge and am eager to see how my body changes these next few months!
