There’s just something about having an evening to organize, prep, and take care of myself! After a 3AM wake-up call, 6AM flight to DC, and full day of work, I couldn’t get home fast enough last night. First thing on the docket… a solid workout at the gym!
I got changed quickly (didn’t want to change my mind — anyone relate to that?) and put on this ADORABLE headband from Violet Love that arrived while I was in Iowa. I mean how cute is this? It stayed put and was super comfortable! My kind of headband.
At the gym I did 30 minutes on the Arc Trainer and burned 363 calories.
Afterwards I ran to Petsmart for dog food and then ran to Trader Joe’s and Giant for groceries. I had somewhat of a grocery list going into my trip but ended up buying way more than I needed. Opps! Note to self: have a snack post workout before going to the grocery store next time!
For dinner I made cheese pizza for Neal and I and then a side of sauteed greens, kale, and turkey bacon for me. I’m trying to add more vegetables to my diet instead of filling up on carbs each meal. Carbs and beans are just about my favorite things in the world but I don’t feel as good as when I eat veggies with every meal.
After dinner I did a little food prep for the week ahead. I roasted butternut squash, another random squash from my CSA, potatoes, and cherry heirloom tomatoes. It’s nice having a variety of prepped veggies on hand to add to my meals throughout the week.
As I shared yesterday, it’s back to meal planning for this girl! Meal planning helps to give me some structure, which I like from time to time. My plans are flexible, but I like to stick to what I’ve planned for the most part.

I’m really happy to be back in DC and for fall to be right around the corner. I know everybody says this, but it really is my favorite time of year. I love football season, cooler weather, and all that comes with those two!
