Today didn’t start off exactly as planned. After oversleeping and then realizing that I had forgotten my Polar watch at home, I wasn’t really looking forward to running 10 miles. Thankfully it was a beautiful day in Virginia and I was able to use the Run Keeper App on my iPhone to track my mileage.
I started my run at the 12 mile marker on the Mt. Vernon trail and headed towards DC.
Last week I busted out my 8 miles while listening to The Jillian Michaels Show, so I figured I’d do the same thing today.
The first 5 miles went by pretty quickly! There was an awesome breeze and the sun was on my back.
After turning around at 5 miles, the sun on my back became the sun on my face, which was HOT! Miles 7 and 8 weren’t my finest, but I just kept going! (side note: I loved wearing one of my new head bands today from Violet Love. I can’t wait to order more!)
I crossed the 10 mile mark at 1:57:05 and was pretty thrilled to be done.
My fastest mile was at a 11:08 pace and my slowest was a 12:27 pace (down hill going out and up hill coming back). I was pretty happy with my average pace of 11:42, especially because I’m still fighting this cold.
After our run Neal and I headed over to Clarendon for Clarendon Days and for some breakfast at South Block Cafe. I ordered a large Nutty Popeye smoothie (banana, peanut butter, almond milk, and spinach) and this new seasonal juice to go.
I’m a little tired but am feeling pretty good overall! I’m so glad to be up to 10 miles now and to still have 3 weeks until the Army 10 Miler race. At this rate, I might as well sign up for the Richmond Half Marathon… we shall see!
Now I’m off to enjoy the rest of this weekend! I hope y’all have an amazing weekend!
