Going technology free for a day is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time. Last week was absolutely nuts, so going technology free yesterday and today sounded like the perfect plan….
Well let me tell y’all, going technology free was not at all what I wanted. What I really wanted was to disconnect from my blog and social media channels for an extended amount of time, not give up TV, my iphone, or kindle.
Neal made fun of the fact that I only made it 12 minutes without technology but you know what, I own up to the fact that I love technology. I did however make it 39 hours without my blog, twitter, facebook, instagram, or pinterest.
It was a little weird not sharing moments of my day with the world, but it was really nice being able to enjoy some true alone time.
To kick off the weekend, Saturday morning Neal and I headed over to Great Falls on the Virginia side of the Potomac River.
Neal had never seen the falls so it was really fun being able to take him there.
Places like Great Falls are one of the many reasons I love DC. The fact that I can drive 20 minutes down the road and be at this beautiful National Park is just amazing.
Afterwards we headed over to South Block Company in Arlington for smoothies and a juice pack.
I’m a huge, huge, huge fan of South Block and all that they have to offer. Whether it’s their smoothies, cold press juices, wraps, or breakfast sandwiches, they are one of the healthiest restaurants in the DC area!
I really believe in this local business and want to see them grow! South Block Company is in the middle of a Kickstarter with the goal of raising enough money to buy a commercial juicer in order to meet the demands of the community and to grow their business.
With a pledge of $150 you can reserve a 3-Day Juice cleanse and help this amazing business grow!
Kicking the weekend off at Great Falls and with breakfast at South Block was exactly what I had hoped for. It was a beautiful and refreshing start to my social media free Saturday.
