The past 7 days have really been quite spot on diet and exercise wise, but it was a mentally tough week for me. Since meeting with my nutritionist I’ve come to the realization that I have to stop making excuses for my bad habits and change. Change is difficult, because all I want to do is what’s comfortable.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were really great days but by Saturday I was feeling overwhelmed, as I didn’t feel like my body was changing, despite the great eats and workouts I had done. I started to doubt the changes I had made and wondered if this was really going to help me reach and happier and healthier place. I started to think about calorie counting and restricting various foods… but why?
The reality was, I was scared. I want so badly to lose weight but what I need to want more is to change my bad habits. Over the past 2 weeks I have allowed myself to make decisions about my eating that I haven’t in quite sometime. I am not counting calories and am teaching myself to make healthy choices and to only eat when I’m hungry, stopping when I’m satisfied. It’s a scary, scary thing to do, but I have to learn. I personally do NOT want to count calories for the rest of my life, which may mean that I end up weighing a little more than I thought I wanted to weigh.
This week I had some DELICIOUS breakfasts, ranging from parfaits to eggs on toast.
But what really made my mornings was the Marylou’s Coffee a Coffee Cake and Cardio reader sent me. It’s amazing how such a little thing can make my mornings so perfect… Thank you again Tara!!
If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen a good number of my lunches over the past two weeks. I am still using the “little of this little of that approach” and am loving it. These containers (found at Target by Ziploc) have really helped me with portion control and being able to satisfy a variety of cravings because I can have a little of this and a little of that.
This week I also had a LOT of dinner plans and just had to make wise choices! I enjoyed wraps after spin classes, tofu Hawaiian rice with blogger friends, and a steak salad after yoga with Neal. Eating out can definitely be scary, but I just focused on what I had already eaten that day and tried to choose healthy meals. If I had a lot of carbs during the day, I enjoyed a salad for dinner and vice versa.
I also had some AMAZING workouts this week!
Wednesday – Rest Day
Thursday – 30 minute run and 45 min spin class at Revolve
Friday – 45 min spin class at Revolve
Saturday – 3.1 mile run in 35:09
Sunday – 45 minute yoga class
Monday – 3.21 mile walk and Best Body Bootcamp workout
Tuesday – 3.21 mile run in 37:35
It really was an awesome week and I am proud of all that I accomplished!
After stepping on the scale this morning I couldn’t help but wonder if I had done something wrong this week or could have done something more, but the reality is, NO… It was an awesome week and the scale does not determine my success. Aunt Flo is coming to visit and I never know how that’ll affect my body. Either way, I am proud of myself and look forward to learning more in week 3!
Tomorrow I start the Turbo Fire program and am really looking forward to it! There are 11 women doing it with me and I’m thrilled to see them reach their goals! If you’d like to join, there is still time to buy Turbo Fire and join the Coffee Cake and Cardio challenge.
