Saturday I played in my first DC Divas football game since breaking my big toe back in April. Prepping for the game starts long before Saturday, but what you do leading up to kickoff can really affect you on the field. Here’s a look into the day in the life of a women’s football player.
6:30AM – Wake up!!
6:45AM- Get changed and ready for the day ahead.
7:00AM – Take Theodore out for a walk
7:45AM- Make a cup of coffee and pay bills
8:45AM- Post game potluck shopping at Target and beer and wine store.
9:30AM- Breakfast!! Everything bagel topped with eggs, turkey sausage, and American cheese.
10:30AM- Rest, watch Moonrise Kingdom, and hydrate!
2:00PM- Lunch with Neal at Noodles and Company. Large macaroni and cheese topped with chicken.
2:45PM- Pack for the game and take off…
3:30PM- Get dressed and hit the field at 4:45 for warmups.
5:40PM- Return to the locker rooms after warmups to put on our pads and to pump each other up before kickoff.
6:00PM- Kickoff!
9:30PM- Return to the locker room after a tough loss. Lost to Pittsburgh 36-27.
10:00PM- Head to the parking lot to hang out with my friends and team mates. A HUGE thank you to my co-workers for making these signs and to all my friends for coming to the game!! Meant the world to me!
10:30PM- Post game potluck!! Beers, burgers, hotdogs, you name it!
12:00AM- Head home and hit the hay!
Saturday was a good day and even though we lost I learned a lot! I must tell y’all, I have never worked so hard or had to push so hard through exhaustion. Playing football in the heat is NO JOKE!!
This Saturday we play Columbus at home. We must win this game in order to win the division, which would give us a bye week the first week of playoffs and would have us at home for week 2.
So there you have it… the day in the life of a women’s football player!
