I’ll be honest with y’all, I’m having a hard time keeping up with our CSA. We just get SO much food each week. I feel like I spend the first few days of our new CSA week eating food from the previous CSA week. Hopefully Neal and I can get ahead of it and create a good plan for eating all of our CSA produce each week.
For week 3, we got a lot of old favorites and produce I LOVE to cook with! Starting in the upper left hand corner and moving clockwise we have…
- Apple sauce
- Green leaf lettuce
- Rainbow chard
- Dinosaur kale
- Red romaine
- Garlic scapes
The only item I had never heard of or worked with were the garlic scapes. Garlic scapes are the curling tops of garlic plants and are perfect in egg dishes, pasta dishes, and salsas. (Stay tuned for a salsa recipe this coming week!)
As part of our fruit share we got strawberries and this jar of apple sauce. So far we haven’t touched the apple sauce, but I’m hoping to use it in some baking or as a snack at work.
