Woo Hoo!! We’ve reached the end of week 1! I hope this was a great first week for you and no matter the outcome, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to reflect on the past 7 days.
For me, Week 1 of the 7 week challenge was just that, a challenge. What I haven’t shared with y’all is that I’ve been battling a football injury the past 4 weeks and have been prohibited from any workout that requires me to use my lower body.
Not being able to workout has been a challenge, both physically and mentally. Some days it leaves me feeling like crap and other days I’m focused on how not working out will help me to heal. Last week I ended the week feeling fantastic and even got a few workouts in (my choice). This Tuesday though my doctor told me that I had to lay off it, allowing more time for me to heal.
It has been incredibly challenging not practicing, not playing football, and not being able to workout, but I’ve surrendered to the fact that it is what it is. I have been able to lift a TON of upper body weights, which is great, but I really miss my cardio workouts.
As I’m not burning calories through cardio I’ve tried to eat more veggies. I’ve done so by eating a whole lot of salads! Salad are a great way to increase veggie intake and in return to lesson carb intake. I love my carbs, but I have to be careful since I’m not burning calories through cardio.
You can see all of my eats on my Daily Eats page. This week has been filled with a lot of veggies but also a lot of work events. This time of year brings with it a lot of events, but it is what it is. I’m happy with how I ate this week and although I’d change a few things, I am proud of all the good decisions I did make.
I am discouraged with my weight this morning but I truly attribute it to not being able to workout as I normally do and the foods I have chosen to eat at work events this week. Today’s weight may have something to do with the steak and dessert I ate last night…
As I move into week 2, I have a few goals for myself.
- Eat clean! This week I really want to focus on eating clean foods (as pure as possible)
- Drinking lots of water. I haven’t been doing a great job of drinking water throughout the day and I want to get back to staying hydrated
- Continue to lift weights, even if I’m starting to feel bulky
Another key to staying on track, especially during a challenge is to stay motivated. Inspirational sayings help me to stay focused throughout the day, so I absolutely LOVE my Inspiration Wear Bistro mug!
Seeing “Cherish the Journey” every day on this mug helps me to remember that it really is just that, a journey. I don’t know what’s going on with my body any more and some days am really frustrated with my inability to lose weight. What I have to focus on is that I am moving forward and I do make a daily decision to eat healthy and to exercise.
I want to congratulate each one of you for finishing week 1 of the 7 week challenge!! Again, no matter the outcome, you’re on a journey and you’re moving closer towards your goal as you learn more and more about yourself.
So tell me, how was week 1?
By leaving a comment about your week, your weight loss, your fitness, etc., you will be entered in to win a Cherish the Journey mug by The Universe Knows!! I will choose a winner on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
The giveaway is now CLOSED! Congratulations to Courtney for winning the week 1 giveaway. Courtney said “Ohhhh man, first week not so great for me, as a plantar fasciitis flare up and then a terrible sinus infection (yayyyy Virginia spring) totally took me down. So I feel you on the injury frustration! The good news for me is the scale stayed the same despite my utter lack of movement from the couch and not-so-great food choices, AND I am starting to feel much better and am ready to get back on the proverbial horse. Keep at it, ladies!”
