This past weekend, Neal and I enjoyed a long weekend filled with long walks, site seeing, and lots of good eats. Friday morning, we headed down to the National Mall to see the cherry trees and the monuments.
Although the cherry blossoms had been delayed due to the colder weather, it was so nice walking along the Tidal Basin and seeing the Jefferson Memorial from afar.
Our walk took us past the spot where Neal proposed and to the MLK Memorial.
We then walked over to the Reflecting Pool, taking a few minutes to soak in the fact that we live in DC. Sometimes I forget just how awesome this city is.
Our walk down the Reflecting Pool lead us to the WWII Memorial, which is always a powerful sight.
For dinner Friday night, we drove down to Old Town Alexandria for dinner at Pizza Paradiso.
Pizza Paradiso is by far one of our favorite places to eat in DC and probably our favorite pizza place ever. We just love it!
I started off the night with an ice cold glass of Nugget Nectar.
For dinner, Neal and I split the Quattro Formaggi. Our FAVORITE pizza!
After dinner (and another beer), we walked across the street to Pops for a scoop of ice cream. My poison for the night was coffee butterfinger. SO good!
Saturday was spent playing football, spending time with my team mates, and relaxing at home for the night.
Sunday morning, we headed over to Founding Farmers for Easter brunch.
Founding Farmers is quickly becoming a favorite place of ours. For brunch Neal ordered the Stuff French Toast topped with blueberry compote.
Along with a cup of french press coffee I had the Benedict Arnold. It was my first time ordering a benedict and I have to say, I won’t be ordering one again. It wasn’t bad, but just not my thing. I’d much rather have a veggie omelet.
It was a weekend full of yummy eats and some really nice weather. It made me remember how much I love living in DC and how much there is to do in this city.
What’s your favorite breakfast/brunch food?
