For some reason, this week I’ve been thinking a lot about the past year and how different my life is one year later. Last valentine’s day I was in my last semester of graduate school and was in the thick of wedding planning. One year later I’m married, living in a different state, happy in my career, and mom to an adorable Westie puppy! It has been quite a year but boy am I happy!
Last Valentine’s Day Neal took me on an adventure. It was such a surprise and just what I needed! This year we’re laying low on Valentine’s Day. We actually have a little bit of a staycation up our sleeves for this weekend but for tonight I think we’ll enjoy dinner together, catch up on DVR, and get to bed early.
For the next 40 days, Neal and I have decided to give up sweets/desserts… aka I asked Neal to give up sweets/desserts with me and as a loving husband he said yes… so on Sunday I whipped up a batch of Iowa Girl Eats’ Brownie Truffles as a final treat.
I followed Kristin’s directions exactly, though I’ll admit that my brownies were definitely not fudgy enough.
It made rolling the balls almost impossible so I more or less smooched them into balls.
These brownie truffles were DELICIOUS and a recipe I would definitely recommend. They were easy to make and next time I’ll definitely work to create more fudgy brownies.
Giving up sweets is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now and I’m trilled to have Neal along side me for this journey. The first couple of weeks will be hard, but I think come March we’ll both be use to not eating sweets/desserts. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m going to miss our frozen yogurt dates, but we’ll just have to find something else to enjoy together.
