Beat the Pre-New Years Blues

Thanksgiving is done, Christmas and Hanukkah have past, and now we have to think about what we did/did not accomplish over the past year.  For some, the past year has been everything they wanted it to be, for others it has been ok, and the remainder are counting down the days to 2013.

“According to a 2002 study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, the average, self-reported success rate for people in their 20s is a fair 39 percent, while folks over 50 apparently struggle a great deal more and only follow through on resolutions 14 percent of the time” (source).  With such a low success rate I think there is a tendency to have a negative mind shift the week before new years as we look back on the past year.  No matter how you feel about 2012, I want each of you to take a minute to think of all of the great things you achieved this past year and beat the pre-new years blues.

No seriously… Take a minute to think!

Almost every year I make a goal of losing weight, getting into better shape, and finding joy in my life.  Although I have not reached the ultimate goal yet, the truth is, each year I have made positive movement towards reaching my ultimate goal.  Last year, I set 8 goals.

  1. Continue to accomplish my 28 by 28 goals!
  2. Save money: eat out less, spend less at Target, and think more about Neal’s and my future goals.
  3. Continue my weight loss journey.  I’d like to say “lose 30 pounds and fall below 200 pounds”, but I want to be realistic!  I’d love to lose more weight, but it’s not a race, it’s a journey.
  4. Eat less processed foods.
  5. Poshbird said it best, so I’m going to quote her, “Spend more time with loved ones and friends……BUT NO TIME with the people I don’t like or who annoy me , bore me or take advantage of me ! Life is too short and I’m not going to waste a moment of it with people who don’t deserve my time and effort !”  hahaha! I love it!
  6. Treasure my maiden name for the next 6 months and then celebrate my new name for the last 6 months.
  7. Become an awesome wife: keeping an open mind, a patient attitude, and a loving heart!
  8. Enjoy every moment of this exciting year!!

I can confidently say that I reached my goals.  Most of them are goals I will continue to work on, like saving money, being a loving wife, and eating less processed food but the I am proud of how I approached 2012 and feel great about it coming to an end.  This year I also achieved some big things and hit a few milestones.

  1. I graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters in Academic Advising
  2. I married my best friend
  3. I traveled across Europe on my honeymoon
  4. I ran a 10K at Runner’s World and was in Runner’s World magazine
  5. I worked out at Reebok Headquarters Crossfit One
  6. I did Jillian Michael’s Body Revolution
  7. I joined Weight Watchers

2012 was a really great year but it was also filled with some low points.  The challenge though is to not focus on the low points.  Could I focus on the low points as I think about what I want to achieve in 2013?  Yes, but what does harping on them do but bum me out and make the days leading up to 2013 negative?

So over the next couple of days I am going to challenge you to do the following things:

  1. Make a list of all of the things you achieved this year.
  2. Making a list of the things you love about yourself and do not want to change.
  3. Make a list of your goals for 2013, staying positive as you create your list.

Enjoy these last few days of 2012!!

Looking for something?

Has my life changed since I started using CBD??? 1 Has my life changed since I started using CBD??? 10000%! CBD gave me the head space, freedom from anxiety, and control back to be able to focus on ME!! Did taking CBD cause weight loss, no!, but with the absence of stress, anxiety, and pain from using CBD I could focus on my body, health, wellness, and fitness. CBD has been a big piece of my puzzle these past 10 months. This time last year I was miserable and now, I’m thriving!
The past month has been one of the most fulfilling The past month has been one of the most fulfilling months for me personally in who knows how long! On December 1, I took a leap and decided to start a business selling Green Compass CBD after 9 months of using CBD to reduce my anxiety, lessen feelings of panic, and to manage my stress and body aches/pain (and boy has it changed my days!!).

Over the past 46 days I have made incredible new friends, have helped men and women start using an organic CBD they can trust, made enough money to pay for an Airbnb getaway for my family, and have seen first hand how many people out there just need help!

Help with anxiety. Help with the burnout they’re experiencing. Help with being overwhelmed from this pandemic. Help with managing the feelings of stress from virtual learning and work. Help finding a way to make an extra income. Help with joint and muscle pain. And help with needing a community.

If you’re wanting to know how CBD can help you, take a leap and send me a note!

If you’re needing to make extra money and don’t know where to start, let’s talk!

I hope that all of my friends and followers here on IG know I’m an open book and love helping people reach their goals! If you’re even just a little curious about CBD or Green Compass, I’m here for you!
Start a side business for YOU! Start a side busin Start a side business for YOU! Start a side business to invest in YOURSELF! Start a side business to make YOUR own money! Start a side business because YOU want the joy that comes from helping others!

Investing in yourself and joining Green Compass could truly be the best decision you ever make for yourself. Is it normal to be scared, nervous, and even insecure before starting a side business? 100%! What I can reassure you is that I’m going to help you every step of the way! You will have a mentor, a friend, a business partner, and a cheerleader from the moment you message me!

If additional income would help you, let’s talk. If a community of friends would help you, let’s talk.

Take a leap! I’m here for YOU!!

Woof, what a weird, sad, depressing, and confusing Woof, what a weird, sad, depressing, and confusing first week of the year.

To focus on the good, I took care of myself this week. I did multiple meditations, took time to be outside, made realistic to do lists, established boundaries to give myself space, celebrated my daughter’s thriving in their first week back to virtual learning post break, and focused on the things I love.

One moment I treasure each work day are those first 15 minutes. I look out the window, drink my coffee, and make a list of everything on my mind (Brain Dump). It gives me clarity, focus, and just a moment for ME. Before meetings, before projects, before serving others, I take a moment for ME!

Last January I just felt awful. Seasonal depressio Last January I just felt awful. Seasonal depression was on the horizon, there weren’t things to look forward to, and little did I know a global pandemic was around the corner. I keep saying 2020 was the year I needed to turn things around, and I mean it. I found CBD, which helped my anxiety/stress/depression, I was blessed with more time with my family, I moved more, and I lost weight. It has been really good for me to open up to my needs and to allow change to happen. I continue to work on being MY best self, which is a battle as I’ve spent so much of my life trying to be better for others. It’s a shift I’m here for! Really looking forward to today and the days ahead.
