My birthday is next Tuesday, WOO HOO, so you know what that means… It’s
time to party time to evaluate my 28 by 28 list. So let’s see how I did…
Health and Fitness
1. Meet with a nutritionist/registered dietitian
-I did a lot of research and ultimately decided not to spend the $500 dollars to meet with a RD. I still desire to understand more about how many calories I should be consuming and what my body fat and muscle percentages are, but for now I’m going to just read a lot of books.
2. Eat more fruits and veggies
-I think I did a great job of eating more fruits and veggies. It’s still amazing how some days I can look back at what I’ve eaten and I’ve only had one serving of produce. I really have to make sure I eat enough produce each day.
3. Cut back on sweets
-Yeah… about that. I cut back at times (and lost pounds when I cut back) but my sweet tooth got the best of me this year. I’ve been thinking a lot about it though and it might be time to cut ice cream out of my diet.
4. Reach 199 pounds!
-Nope. Last time I weighed myself I was 220.2 (at the end of my scaleless summer). Not 199, but a lot better than 230 (around my highest weight this past year).
5. Create a weight lifting routine
-I joined a gym Wednesday, which is step one in creating my routine. Maybe I’ll have a routine created before I turn 28 on Tuesday.
6. Continue to run after 15K and maintain ability to run 8-10 miles with ease
-I’ve definitely continued to run and have maintained my ability to run longer distances but definitely not 8-10 miles. I’m not too far from it, but I wouldn’t say I maintained this goal.
7. Become a certified spin instructor
-Nope. This was something I really wanted to do but wedding planning and honeymooning took over. Maybe next year.
8. Continue to develop Coffee Cake and Cardio
-I have absolutely loved developing my blog. I love being able to share my life with my readers and being introduced to new people every single day. I feel truly blessed to be a blogger.
9. Redesign Coffee Cake and Cardio
-My amazing sister redesigned my blog and I love it! I love the colors and the layout.
10. Host a giveaway each month on Coffee Cake and Cardio
-I’ve failed y’all on this one but I have some pretty awesome giveaways coming up. I love being able to tell y’all about new products and to host giveaways whenever possible.
Neal and I
11. Plan a nice date night once a month with Neal
-Neal and I were very spontaneous this past year, so although we didn’t take turns planning a date night each month we still went on a lot of dates. I’m a pretty happy wife!
12. Downsize my apartment (and encourage Neal to do the same) before we move in together
-Check, Check! There’s still a lot of organizing and downsizing to do but we’ve done a great job so far.
13. Move into Neal’s and my first home together!
-Neal and I moved in together last May and have had a really smooth transition. We love our first place!
14. Plan our wedding and stay under budget
-We had an absolutely amazing and beautiful wedding and stayed just under budget. It was wonderful.
15. Get married!
-WOO HOO! Hard to not achieve this one.
16. Plan out 2012 trip to Europe
-We had an absolutely amazing honeymoon in Europe. It was everything we had hopped it would be, traveling to Amsterdam, all over Germany, Prague, and Austria.
Plan our 2013 trip to Australia (sorry guys, this will definitely not be happening!)
-This was originally on my list but Neal and I aren’t going to spend money on this right now. We’ll go eventually.
18. Develop a savings plan
-We have started a savings plan but are still figuring out our budget. Our goals is to feel 100% financially settled by February 1, 2013.
19. Graduate from Kansas State University with my masters degree
-I couldn’t be happier with the degree I earned and the fact that I now have my masters degree. I graduated last May, just before our wedding.
20. Take tap dance classes
-I took one tap dance class, so this one gets a big old check mark. I have since signed up for ballet and have 3 more weeks left.
21. Finish my high school scrapbook
-I haven’t even touched it. I really want to work on my scrapbook, so here’s hoping we have a super snowy winter!
22. Learn how to knit hats
-Another crafting fail. This is still something I really want to do but I wasn’t able to focus on this this past year.
23. Plan a girls weekend
-I went on the most amazing girls weekend last February with my bridesmaids. I really would love to plan another girls weekend next year.
24. Recover all of my photos and documents from my old laptop
-Thanks to Neal I was able to get this one done. I loved going through all of my old photos and recovering all of my undergrad papers.
25. Save and organize all digital photos in one, safe place
-I have been saving my photos in multiple locations. I feel good about this one.
26. Buy an iPhone
-WOO HOO!! I love my iPhone and am trying to convince my hubby to get one.
27. Read 4 non graduate school related books
-I read the Hunger Games series, Weight Loss Boss, and The Skinny Rules
28. Pursue coaching discus and shot-put at a local high school
-I have made a few phone calls, so I’m hoping this is in my future. Not going to let go of this one.
Last year was a really, really great year. I’m proud of all that I accomplished and all of the obstacles I’ve tackled. It was a year with a little heartache but lots and lots of love and joy.
