I had a wonderful, wonderful weekend! To me there’s nothing better than spending time with friends, taking naps, watching sports, and wedding planning. Saturday started off with a 9:50AM showing of The Hunger Games.
I really enjoyed The Hunger Games but I will say that the book is better. This is the first time I’ve seen a movie in which I had also read the book and I now understand the struggle readers go through. To be honest, I say either read the book or see the movie. Just my opinion.
After the movie I booked it down to Duport to meet up with some fellow bloggers. I thought I looked pretty good on Saturday but holy cow did I look like a hot mess in pictures. Frizzy hair, camel toe, you name it…
Aside from attending the Healthy Living Summit in 2011 and hanging out with Lauren, this was my first official DC Blogger meetup. I LOVED meeting the girls and talking about our lives. It’s funny because we all have full lives outside of being bloggers, so I loved being able to talk to them about their careers, goals, etc.
Now I do have to admit something, I don’t like SweetGreen. It’s my fault, but I make the WORST salads there. I’ve yet to make a good one. Saturday I created a spinach, sweet potato, cucumber, chickpea, chicken, and egg salad with balsamic vinegar and a little balsamic dressing. GROSS. I pretty much just picked stuff out of it and ate the spinach. It was seriously the worst. Their frozen yogurt on the other hand was awesome! I added coconut, dark chocolate, and strawberries to the mix.
After lunch I headed home and took a 3 hour nap… yippy!! Afterwards Neal and I ran to Trader Joe’s and then to Target.
Sunday morning didn’t start off as planned. Neal and I were going to workout before church but yea, we slept in. By 8:30AM we were out the door and on our way to church. After church we grabbed lunch at Matchbox before continuing our search for our first apartment.
I’m 100% PMSing so I caved in and split a few sinful treats with Neal for brunch. We ordered the skillet cinnamon rolls and a small breakfast pizza.
Let me tell you, the cinnamon rolls were stinkin’ awesome! They had a cream cheese frosting that was just perfect paired with the cinnamon. They weren’t overly sweet which was great.
The pizza was just OK. Neal and I both felt like it couldn’t decide if it wanted to me Italian or Mexican. Poor little guy, hopefully he’ll figure it out soon. A salsa for sauce and chorizo for sausage would have been best on this Mexican inspired pizza instead of marinara and Italian sausage, but what can you do?
After brunch we continued our quest to find an apartment and guess what… WE FOUND ONE!! We’ll be moving to Maryland in May but we’re incredibly excited!
It’s hard to believe that we’ll be moving in together in a month and a half and then getting married in three months. Wowzers!
The week ahead is filled with LOTS of to-dos. Spring break is over so it’s hard to grad school for this girl and there’s plenty of wedding planning to accomplish too. The highlight of the week looks to be Neal’s and my engagement session tomorrow with our photographer!
