Lots on the Plate

This past weekend, Neal and I drove up to Cleveland, OH to visit Neal’s sister Jill and her family.  It was so good to see Jill, Rob and their baby, Annabelle.

Annabelle is just 3 weeks old and we just couldn’t seem to take our eyes off of her.  Isn’t funny how you can just watch a baby sleep and it’s the most entertaining thing ever?

Neal loved spending time with his niece and I can’t complain about getting a baby fix!

Neal and I are really looking forward to having kids, but I really, really hope we can wait 2-3 years.  It was amazing being with Annabelle this weekend, but I’m just not ready to be a Mom yet.  Getting married is the first set and then I want to spend a couple of years with just my hubby.

This weekend Neal and I also ran 10 miles!! That’s right, TEN MILES!!  It was our longest run together to date and we rocked the house.

We ran around the Cleveland Metropark, weaving through neighborhoods, onto the trails, downtown Lakewood, and then back through the park.  It was a fantastic run and took us a little over 2 hours to run.  I was really temped to go ahead and run another 3.2 miles, just to be able to say that we ran a half marathon that day… Neal wasn’t buying it though.

We had a fantastic time with everyone and are so grateful to have more family within driving distance!  We can’t wait to see everyone at Christmas.

On the flip side though, this week has been really stressful so far.  I think it just hit me this week that I have a lot on my plate.  If you could peer into my brain, here’s what’s on my mind these days.

Work
Graduate School – Fall Classes
Graduate School – Spring Classes
Graduate School – Capstone
Wedding Planning
Weight Watchers
Working Out
Blogging
Hanging Out with Friends
Holidays- Thanksgiving and Christmas
Future Planning- in regards to Neal and I joining forces

In all honesty, these are all fantastic things, it’s just a lot at one time.  I think what’s overwhelming me the most is graduate school, but I have to remember that my capstone is due March 15 and then I will graduate May 12.  It’s really going to be smooth sailing after that!

What helps me to de-stress if to make lists of what I need to get done in each area.  It’s also really important for me to keep days for myself, days for me to clean my apartment, go to the gym, run errands, watch TV, and just relax.  I haven’t been doing a good job of setting aside nights for myself, so I am going to work harder to set that time aside.

In the end though, I have to recognize that there are a lot of great things going on right now and I need to enjoy the ride.  Life is good and I don’t want to lose focus on that!

What helps you to de-stress?
