Welcome to Balancing Today!
The move from Coffee Cake and Cardio to Balancing Today was a long time coming and I’m so thrilled finally introduce you all to the new Balancing Today! Almost 6 years ago I started blogging at Coffee Cake and Cardio. It was a place for me to share my lifestyle and the changes I was making to live a happier and healthier life. I loved the community and the joy this hobby had brought to my life. After all that had happened in 2009, it was a new light in my life.
Over the years I have shared my day-to-day lifestyle, diet, fitness adventures, struggles, and plenty of random tidbits. Coffee Cake and Cardio grew quickly and changed as my life changed. In 2011 Neal and I got engaged, in 2012 Neal and I got married, in 2013 we enjoyed our life as newlyweds, and in 2014 we welcomed our beautiful daughter Magnolia to the world. A whole lot of life happened while I was blogging on Coffee Cake and Cardio and I love being able to look back on each day.
Coffee Cake and Cardio began to change during my pregnancy with Magnolia, but I thought I would just be able to go back to my old style of writing after having her… boy was I wrong! I had changed and thus my writing had changed. What was once my focus was no longer my focus and I had so much more I wanted to write about. I wanted to write about being a new mom and returning to work after 6 weeks. I wanted to write about my struggles with breastfeeding and how awkward it was to pump in an office with paper thin walls and no lactation room. I wanted to write about the guilt I felt for working full time and yet how much working meant to me as a women, wife, and mother. I wanted to write about all of the balls I had in the air and the good, bad, and ugly that came with it all. I wanted to continue to be honest about the realities of this life, but it was hard balancing these new topics with what readers looked for on Coffee Cake and Cardio.
Funny enough, I actually launched Balancing Today back in July 2015, but what was I thinking keeping up with 2 blogs? I wrote on Balancing Today for a few months and quickly realized I couldn’t do both! Like I said, this move from Coffee Cake and Cardio to Balancing Today was a long time coming, but it’s hard saying goodbye to a blog and brand you connect with so personally. I had a wonderful time blogging as Coffee Cake and Cardio, but it was time to accept the changes that had occurred in my life and to enter into this next chapter with a blog that better reflects my realities.
With all that said, I am unbelievably thrilled to introduce you all to the new Balancing Today! For the most part, I’ll continue to write as I have been writing for the past 2 years, but I am excited to invest more time writing within 4 main areas…
Balancing Everyday Life – Focusing on our family and my lifestyle
Balancing Motherhood – Pregnancy, raising children, and being a working mom
Balancing the Home – Cleaning, cooking, finances, and organization
Balancing Wellness – Fitness, goal setting, self care, and work-life balance
