We had an absolutely beautiful weekend here in Washington, DC! The skies were blue and we had tons of sunshine. It was truly a perfect fall weekend and my last before I start easing back into work postpartum.
Thankfully I’ll be able to transition back into work slowly, working more and more each week until the new year. It’s bittersweet but I’m ready to rip the bandaid off! I am so grateful for the time I’ve had at home with Magnolia. It’s scary transitioning into being a working mom and sending Magnolia to daycare but I know that in time we’ll figure it out and we’ll both be fine!
Ok, back to the beautiful weekend we had here in DC!
We kicked off the weekend with some time on the WO&D Trail in Virginia. After dropping Theodore off at the groomer Neal headed out for a long run and Magnolia and I went for a walk with a friend of mine.
I really love walking with Magnolia, especially this time of year! It’s a great workout and I think it’s good for her to get fresh air. And come on, how cute is she?
We walked 4.08 miles total and I burned 625 calories, which was awesome! It was a great way to kick off the weekend.
After picking up Theodore we all headed down to Clarendon for breakfast at South Block Cafe. I’m seriously obsessed with this place and make every effort to go there any time we’re in Virginia. For breakfast I ordered the Kickin’ Chicken Wrap and the Super Green smoothie. Both were awesome!
I then ran over to Trader Joe’s to pick up some of my favorites! I bought some butter lettuce, tomato and roasted red pepper soup, butternut squash, pumpkin, and a few odds and ends. We spent the rest of the day cleaning the house, doing laundry, and watching football. It was an awesome Saturday!
Sunday morning started off with another
unnecessary necessary photo shoot. Nothing kills time more than taking 1,800 photos of your daughter.
By 7:15AM I was out the door with a coffee in my hand, headed to my beloved 8AM spin class at The Pedal Studio.
Class was awesome but I’ll admit that I was a little out of it. I got a great workout in though and left the class feeling much better than I did going into it.
Once home I put on the Lions vs. Falcons game and got to cooking! I’ve been trying to prep staples every Sunday that way Neal and I have healthy foods to eat throughout the week. Yesterday I roasted pumpkin, butternut squash, acorn squash, and yellow potoatoes. I also made two dinners, a no bean chili (I’ll share my recipe soon) and this buffalo chicken soup.
After cleaning up the kitchen and tackling a few other things on my to do list, Neal, Magnolia, Theodore, and I headed out for a long walk. We walked just under 3 miles, enjoying the last bit of sunshine the weekend had to offer.
We also stopped and took a few photos in the leaves which was fun.
We had an amazing weekend and I’m already looking forward to the next one! I’ve never treasured weekends more than I do now that Magnolia is here. I just love having everyone home for 2 days!
