I know I overdid it this weekend, but I couldn’t wait to share our weekend with y’all! I’m still sick as a dog, but I’m hopeful I’m getting better. I’ve been on antibiotics for a few days now and finally ate real food yesterday. Anywho, back to the weekend!
At 4:00AM Saturday morning Neal, Magnolia, and I drove down to Richmond for the Richmond Half Marathon. The drive was easy peasy, getting us into the city around 6:30AM. We parked in our go to parking garage, hung out in a local hotel for a little bit (to use their restrooms and to give Magnolia time to walk around), and then headed to the start line.
After seeing Neal off at the start line, Magnolia and I stopped by Starbucks and then headed over to the 12 mile marker. I knew that I’d need to see Neal by 9:30AM or he wouldn’t reach his goal of breaking 2 hours. I’ll admit that my heart sank when I saw the first 2:00 pace group pass but then I saw another 2:00 pacer with a Hawkeye behind him. It was Neal!
Sunday morning we headed over to Fed Ex Field to watch the Redskins take on the Saints. The DC Divas were being honored during halftime for our National Championship win over the Dallas Elite earlier this year.
It was fun taking Magnolia to her first game, though I’ll admit that it was a little overwhelming. She’s past the “please hold me for hours stage” and far from the “sure I’ll obey and sit here stage”. Thankfully she fell asleep in the Boba for a while and was really good on the field during half time!
The weekend ended with me having strep throat, but it was a really fun weekend overall! I’m so proud of Neal and I’m so grateful for my DC Divas teammates! It’s hard to believe that season starts next month!
