The Bump – 15 weeks vs 24 weeks
Gender – It’s a girl!
Movement – Last week I started feeling the baby almost daily. She moves the most after dinner, from about 6PM-8PM. Just this weekend I started feeling her first thing in the morning too, which is fun. Overall, she’s pretty mellow like her daddy.
Symptoms – I’ve still battling heartburn off and on. It’s odd the foods/beverages that trigger my heartburn, like water, but I’m finding ways to combat it naturally. Eating smaller meals, drinking lemon water, and eating slowly really helps!
Maternity clothes – Work clothes have been tough, but I’m loving shorts, tanks, and t-shirts after work and on the weekends.
Eats – This past week I worked really hard to get my diet back on track! I counted calories every day and integrated more vegetables and proteins into my diet just to make sure I’m only eating what I need for the baby to be strong and healthy. The weekend was tough, mainly because I was tired and not as motivated to cook, but I thought it was a really great week. I ended the week feeling healthier and more in charge of my diet, which was the goal!
Food cravings – MINT! I know, it’s super random, but I’ve been craving mint like whoa. I’ve been loving adding mint to my water every day. I’ve also been craving meat! I actually, sadly, sent Neal on his first pregnancy craving grocery run this past weekend. Neal ran to the store to buy a rotisserie chicken. I was embarrassed to send him to the store, but at least I wasn’t sending him to get me brownie mix.
Workouts – I’ve got to get back to the gym. I’ve been super bad the past two weeks about getting to the gym before the work day and the evenings just don’t happen. I still get great walks in almost every day, whether during my lunch break or after work, but I’ve just enjoyed sleeping in too much to get to the gym before work.
Sleep – Sleep has been great! I’ve been getting 6.5 – 8 hours of sleep a night, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve been staying up too late. I really need to get back to my 9:30-10PM bedtime and gym workouts before work. Hopefully this week I can get back on schedule.
Pregnancy brain – I’ve gotten into a really bad habit of starting something, getting distracted, starting something else, and then forgetting the original task. On Friday morning for example, I started making scrambled eggs and then headed outside with Neal to move the plants out of the rain. 10 minutes later I went inside and was instantly reminded of the eggs I had put on the stove top. Opps!
Doctors Appointments – This Friday I have my 24 week glucose test and doctors appointment, so hopefully those will be
a piece of cake easy. I’m not worried about drinking the sugary drink but just want to make sure my blood sugar is in check and that it’s not an issue. As I’ve shared before, it’s hard having doctors assume that because I’m obese that I’m diabetic, so these test results are really important to me! I want the baby and me to be as healthy as possible on the inside and out! Glucose test aside, I’m looking forward to hearing the baby’s heartbeat and to meeting with my favorite doctor! It’ll be nice to have an open conversation with a doctor I know and trust.
Thoughts and feelings – I’m honestly feeling incredibly overwhelmed. Up until this point I feel like I’ve just been letting the weeks fly by. 40 weeks is a long time, so I haven’t felt the pressure to get things done. Now that we’re 24 weeks, I actually feel a lot of pressure to get organized and to start making the most of my time. I feel like I have a gazillion to dos floating in my brain, but my actual to do list is fairly empty. It’s time to put my thoughts on paper and to start preparing for baby! I know we still have 16 weeks (4 months), God willing, but I know the summer is going to fly by. AHHH. Writing that just made me anxious.
Looking forward to – Memorial Day Weekend! And yes, it’s only Monday.
